Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Worked on cable management while I had the windshield dropped.

Then got the air lines secured to the cage.

Along with the GPS wiring for the stereo.

I've been running the engine while doing this off and on since I think it was the heat under the hood that was making those lines blow.

Waiting on FedEx to deliver a package from ORO. Steve sent me the wiring harness to fix the AiRock not turning off with the ignition.

Looking at the FSM more closely I'm not seeing anything in how to get the O/D light to illuminate. It's not like the 98 PCM for the magnum where there's a separate wire for the O/D light. On the truck itself you have a Tow/Haul mode which is what's the O/D on them. Don't know what a Charger or Challenger or 300 or even a Grand Cherokee has for a O/D light. Might have to go look at them.

Thanks. I try to be fairly self-sufficient even though I try never to wheel alone. Since my rig is such a hodgepodge of parts from so many different rigs you've got to be.

I've got to figure out what tools I want to carry now since the Hemi is a new platform and I'm not sure if there's any special tools I'll need for it.
I know I need to add the AN wrenches for the fittings I've got in the rig of one example of things I didn't use to carry.

Some would say all the added weight of carrying all this stuff ruins the abilities of the rig. One day I might have to unload everything and see if it makes a difference.

Come to think of it on the trucks, there is no actual "light" for O/D or Tow/Haul...
The computer turns on the indicator in the guage cluster.

I'll have to double check in the JK but I don't believe it has a button to shut OD off because it has the manual shift option built into the gear selector. While in drive you bump left to shift down and bump right to shift back up. I am betting it works in a simmilar way for other non truck applications..

Been too long since I sold truck to remember what it had for the tow/haul now. I think it had a switch on the dash that you clicked. But that was 2018.

On the 2005 model it had the button on the shifter and the light there that said Tow/Haul if I remember correctly.

What was in the cars in 2005 IU really don't know.

The button was on the end of the shifter but no light on the shifter. Push it once for tow haul a second time for over drive off and third back to normal.

The indicator is in the cluster.

You might be able to notch the other end of one of the aluminum hub wrench where you only need to carry one. Just a thought as you have thought of everything else.

My 2004 dodge 1500 Hemi does not have an overdrive light. it just has the tow button in the end of the shift lever. When it is in tow mode it will turn on a light in the dash. Tow mode does more than just turn off over drive. It changes the shift points for the trans as well but you might be able to use the wire for the light.

I only need ONE of the hub wrenches. The one is nice & made out of aluminum & the other is 3D printed. So yes I really only need to carry one of them. I could put the other one in the motorhome for tuning it's hubs.

Yes you're correct, going into Tow/Haul mode does change the shift points. I'd forgotten about that. My motorhome in Tow/Haul mode still shifts to all 5 gears & doesn't have a O/D lock out.

Found the other tie rod clamp I'd bought while I was looking for other things. So if the fancy double shear clamp from TMR won't work due to it hitting or rubbing on things I can use this one.

And since it is getting cold outside I went to install the soft top I'd gotten from @reddvltj but ran into a little issue. I'd had a BestTop Sunrider top on the Jeep before and it uses different mounts for the frame.

Had to take a break from working on the Jeep. BIL & sister drove over so I could fix the headlight switch in my BIL's Explorer.
Ford in their infoumas wisdom used plastic to hold the headlight switch to the mounting plate on the dash.
They'd bought a new switch not knowing what the issue was.
The trim piece for the switch also held the switch on and had broken. So you couldn't turn the headlights off. Since they didn't know it was a broken trim piece there wasn't any way to fix it. So I borrowed the screw piece off the donor Jeep to remount the headlight switch onto the Explorer dash. My sister found the trim piece on Ebay but they wanted $25 for it. My BIL is just going to get the metal screw that the Jeep uses instead.

I'm talking about the screw or nut that holds the headlight switch onto the dash.

I'd torn the steering column apart to replace the clock spring since the one in it I'd cut the wiring for the airbag. On the new clock spring I'd put a jumper wire in the plug for the air bag.

But the air bag light is still on. I even hooked the air bag back up and the light is still on. So there's got to be something in the newer dash that it isn't seeing in the older TJ wiring making it stay on.

Coming off the wiring from the AEM wide band O2 gauge is a wire for the HPT Pro Link to read the sensor when data logging. So I'd had the wire under the dash but with the kick panel installed I needed to be able to get at the wire without having it hang down at my feet. So I zip tied it to the side of the OBD2 plug. It's the pink plug.

There's enough slack to plug the MPVI2+ into the OBD2 plug.

I changed the hood prop for one that has the bushing still.

But since I've got the air bag light on anyway I may just pull it. I'm going to take a look at the FSM and see if I can figure out why the light is on.
And yes it was on before in the donor Jeep also.

Can your Autel scanner pull any codes or flags for the airbag? Potential to narrow down what's triggering the light (sensor, airbag, module, etc.)?

I don't know, haven't tried to look yet but that's a good idea. I'll give a shot tomorrow.

Plan on pulling the fuel tank tomorrow and replacing the gasket. Then if I still have time I'll start chasing some air leaks I've got in my air system. Soapy water will be used & hopefully I can identify where the leaks are at.

I was curios to see how much I've driven the Jeep since I swapped the Hemi in & swapped the dash.
Mileage when I purchased the donor Jeep was 118,568 & it's now got 118,717 so 149 miles up to this point.

I recently setup a multi-grinder holder in my garage with multiple HF (cheap) grinders preset with various grinding implements (wire wheel, flap disc, grinding disc, etc.).

I then realized I also had been building up a similar collection of preset bottles on the tool cart shelf - preset bottles with carpet cleaner, Distilled H2O, soapy water, Simple Green....

No real add here, just an observation I made in my garage and you triggered me on your soapy water comment.

Going and looking at the FSM from what I can tell the reason the air bag light is on is due to the fact that my Jeep is CCD & the dash is PCI and is looking for that signal in PCI.
I'm going to reach out to Chris from Hotwire and see what he says.
