    2003 TJ Build Help

I swapped an '06 frame under my '98 over winter of '19/'20. Here is a link to the swap that also includes an excel of my costs + links to some suppliers for difficult to find items like clips and tabs to hold brake and fuel lines to the frame, etc. Not sure if the links are still good and hope...

    New interior

Agree with Mac, plus--insulate the center console before you put it back. I had some 1" solid foam lying around, along with some 3M spray adhesive for the flat undersides, and I zip tied some old, oversized foam drink coozys to the underside of each drink holder.

How much did you guys get charged for drum brakes?

I did mine at 272k miles, only because some fool over-torqued the lug nuts and using a torch destroyed the cylinders. I did the full rebuild even though the drums could have gone a bit longer. The springs were iffy; I'll give it that.

    Summit seat foam review

I replaced my driver's seat foam in June of '24. Since, I've put about 20k on the clock. Mine has broken in nicely-initially I sat a bit too high and now it's good. My only real complaint: the foam isn't as breathable as the original. Still, it's much better than sitting on the seat frame rails.

    Teenagers and Jeeps

Nice looking Jeep. Those men look like a team of superheroes: [deep '50s announcer voice] "Bringing Brews! Cussing! & The EmptyPockets Way! Featuring Teen TJ Titan, The UnderPower Ranger, The Guardian of Frugality, and The Retorquer! Together they are The Fanciful Four! Along with their...

Real diagnostic scan tool for TJ

I have an Autel MX808 Maxicheck. It worked on my '98.

    Insulating a Soft Top

I think you should give it a shot. Check with the tent manufacturer as to their process, and ask them why they didn't use an adhesive and ask how is the tent still waterproof given the sewn-in lining?

    TJ hard top cart question

My first Jeep! Maybe an unfortunate one.

Love the (purple) passion of the previous owner. If I'm you, first thing is to flush out the frame and double check the inside. For your electrical drain, check inside the cigar lighter (if it has one). Sometimes something conductive will fall inside.

    Soft Top Door Seal

At the top of that trim piece is a rectangular hole, and the end of your door surrounds are supposed to go into that hole--double check that your door surrounds are in, and that area isn't broken.

    Suspension Lubrication Frequency

After fording, I go through everything. I check torque and torque to spec about once a year. I grease every spring--winter is hard on grease given the combo of cold and precip and the overly-salted Virginia roads.

    Soft Top Door Seal

Looks like you need to adjust your half doors to align better. Also, how's your frame looking? And your torque boxes? Also, how is the A-pillar plastic trim looking? It's this piece: https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/windshield-door-seal-wrangler-tj

    Fuel Injectors

I installed 4 hole injectors back in June, as my #6 injector had a crack and the fuel rail o-ring was mostly split-massive fuel leak. I replaced all 6 injectors with new units from Summit Racing at $28 each plus free shipping. These are 4 hole 23lb units, Bosch part number 0 280 156 162. The...

    Engine swap comparison

I doubt any swaps could be done for under $5000--under $2500 is a hash-pipe dream. This engine is close enough physically to the 4.0 that it would be easier and a trans adapter would be unnecessary, plus the Vortec engines are fairly cheap. Call it $5k.
