Project the first: drained the ATF out (loving the drain plug on the new pan!!!!) into a super clean bucket. Then removed the dipstick tube because I had it in too far & wouldn't bolt up to the bell housing. It either needed to go in further or come back out a little. I opted for back out because I don't really think further in is an option with the pan clearance. Bolted it up, then put my ATF back in. It had only been in there for a week and < 50 miles, and came out clear and red so I reused it because I'm cheap. It may have a tiny tiny bit of weep now, but that may be due to the fact that the o-ring is 24 years old and has been in & out 3 times in the past week.
Project the second: wiring on the torque converter lockup pigtail was rough. Like real rough. I guess it's a signal & a ground? The ground wire was cut about 1" above the plug with no trace of the rest of the wire. The other wire has it's insulation pulled up with about 3/4" above the plug exposed. I taped that exposed wire, and in the process found an "auxiliary ground wire" that the PO ran up to the firewall and into the cab somewhere, and apparently had twisted the other end of that into what was left of the pigtail ground wire. I guess it came apart....I struggled to even get a crimp on them. So I twisted them back together & taped off, hopefully that clears my P0743. Seems like finding a new pigtail for this is challenging to say the least.
