What's everyone's gas mileage?

Hmm.. not sure where all that goes in my profile but...
98 TJ Sport (ordered Oct 97, arrived Dec 97 from Toledo Plant No2)
4.0L/5 speed manual
3.07 Rear
2" Teraflex suspension lift (just wanted simple and to clear the rubbing tires when turning)
31" BFG KO2's (2nd set of 31's)
Rancho RS5000 shocks
19 gal Tank

Really, nothing extreme or special mods in my opinion from factory setup.. never driven mine hard on or off-road since for a very long time it was my daily driver so i've babied it along as best I could with an occasional romp in the dirt. Done all the oil changes myself between 3-4,000mi. Run regular 87 octane with an injector cleaner maybe twice a year. I'm on my 3rd alternator, 2nd radiator, 5th battery, 3rd radio, 4th set of tires and 3rd soft top, never wrecked, broken into three times and still looking for all 3 perpetrators.

WIth 5.13s and 35s, my first calculated tank was 15 even. 249 miles and 16.6 gallons of gas. That is actually up 1mpg compared to the same 35s and 4.56 gears.

I've been to Houston many times, but I wasn't the perpetrator! Actually, a couple of years ago my CC was skimmed at a gas station for something like $320. Another time I was there we went to a gas station and a strange guy approached me and another gentlemen. I was concealed carrying and we told him to back away. Intelligently, he did.

You can add all that info to your profile, which is helpful to others. To do that, look in the top right corner of the page. You'll see your avatar and screen name Jeepins. FWIW, I never have achieved higher than 15.02 mpg on a tank.

I am getting 15 mpg in town driving. I have a 2006 TJ with 4.0 and 42rle trans, 3.73 gears. My milage got a bit better when I swiched to the MOAB 16" wheels and have 31" tires. Unfortunatley the wheels came with load range E tires that I have not replaced yet, but the milage went from about 13.5 to 15 right after that. I figured the taller wheel and tire go further per rotation, so better gas milage. Of course I may not know what I'm talking about but it makes sense to me.

Best I got was when I was on 35s and 4.10s on a highway trip, 18 mpg.
went to 37s and 5.13s, averaged about 13 mpg on my daily commute, mixed rural driving.
Recently supercharged and only checked one tank, boosting regularly and commuting to work, 8.5 mpg.

I used to get 15-17 on the highway. It got progressively worse with every bump in tire size but who's counting. Last summer did a gig tire change to 7.50R16 pizza cutters on 16x6.5 rims. Instant 22mpg on the highway and you really notice the reduced rolling resistance around town. Change of tires added 95 extra miles between gas stops. I'll never go back to 33s. These are way better performers when the weather turns bad, standing water and slush at 70mph does not even cause a twitch in the steering. Plus a smoother ride.

I just bought the pictured 2000 Sport 4.0, 5 speed.

31 x 10.5s after a basic tune up; I ran a tank at 16.8mpg with mostly short trips.

I also noticed it must have a huge reserve, or the gauge isn't great. It'll show almost empty after 10 gallons, with a 19 gallon tank, according to the manual specs.

When it's time to replace the stock 30-9.50x15s on mine, I'm thinking something skinnier too.

I'm getting about 18ish on the highway with a stock LJ and 4.0/6 speed manual, but my overall average is about 14.3. Most of my driving is local county roads and in our small town. But then, it's all about the smiles per gallon. I drive my wife's Volvo crossover a lot of the time because of it's 30mpg, but I drive the Jeep because of the fun factor.

Sounds like good average mileage. Mine was mostly near 17mpg on long highway trips. 14mpg towing in the mountains. My reserve is good for about 40 miles after the light goes on.

My tank is 70L, the light comes on when 15L are left.

Just to add to the data:
Filled my tank and ran it until empty.
1998 2.5L AX5 (5 spd) with 4.11 Dana 35. Tires are BFG KO2, 235/75 R15. 15 gallon tank, 258.0 miles, which is about 17 mpg. Since the tires are 6% oversized, the actual miles traveled is 273, which is about 18 mpg. Most of my driving was 40-60 mph, since my driving is mostly “rural”.

With 5:13s on 35” tires, I average 180 to 220 miles per tank, it all depends on were I’m driving and how I’m driving.

That bullshit MPG the manufacturer states, is averaged at low speeds going downhill both directions.

As of this post, I've mostly been driving on 32x11.5, I suspect it'll drop a bit when I get miles on the 35s.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. 99 4.0 -5spd with 192,000. Worst I've gotten is 14.3 and the best is 16.5. I check most every fill up. I probably average about 15.5 or so. 33" tires, 4" lift and gearing is unknown (guessing 3.07) but way too high!
