What did you do to your TJ today?

Yesterday I took the valve cover off and change the valve cover gasket, never done that before, it went pretty smoothly. forgot to take pictures...

today:
We took everything out Including the carpet and thoroughly cleaned everything including the carpet and seats.

Nice job! What is the bungee holding up?

What bumper is that?
Im not dead sure Bro, I have looked and looked and have yet to see one...@Hog thought it may have been earlier American made Smittybilt , maybe what evolved into the the model XRC 76654 , note the angled tubes meet the upper and become doubles on each corner ...I can’t find another one that does that ...everything on the exterior goes back to its original build as far as I can tell. The flush mount lights are his idea too, we added plates to the factory steel. I fell in love with the overall look when I was out shopping for one. My wife says the whole thing screams “beach girl “ or some emasculating statement....thats fine honey , keep it up....

The TJ has a really good overall look, I’ve considered moving all that over to an auto if I found one, but that’s speculation right now. It works good like it is and the hand throttle and low crawl ratio compensate a little for dealing with a 3rd pedal.

That's good to hear, I was considering the rockford fosgate ps8 too but it's like twice the price and I don't need much bass

Update: was a case of user error. I had left the level at min after I did some testing before I put it in the console the first time. When I took off the console to investigate I realized my error and turned that up and now it’s filling out the lows well. I mounted the wired control inside my console so I can adjust as needed. I added some insulation between the sub and any surfaces it might touch.

Replaced the valve cover gasket. The plastic wiring bracket at the back was a pain, but got it off and was much easier. The real pain was the bolt in the front passenger side under the radiator hose and other lines. Could barely get in there. Unfortunately I snapped one of the stud bolts. Luckily it’s the most accessible one in the middle of the passenger side that the hose clamp goes onto. After a bunch of choice words I buttoned everything up and didn’t see any leaks after driving around a bit, but will need to get it out and a new one in.

Fixed my subwoofer issue and tried to adjust my LED headlights. Also put in some yellow LEDs for my fogs.

If you have power at the back up switch when in reverse, then you at least know the problem is downstream of that. which is just wire and sockets and bulbs.
it finally hit me in the shower: I replaced the back up switch, but not the blown fuse. DOH! Popped a good fuse in and BINGO! Drivers side backup light works. Yes! I’ll take it.
Paaenger side wiring was hacked up when I bought it. Got the tail light and brake light working shortly after purchase, so now it’s time to troubleshoot the reverse light. Can’t get the connector separated though.

Finished installing the paramount automotive flares. For $179 I’m pretty pleased with the finish product. They feel solid as a rock once installed, fit perfect, and look good. Hopefully they maintain shape and color for a while, time will tell. She is garaged kept so that will help!

I’ve done a few small things over the last few days, daystar dash tray, relocated my cb to the left of the steering wheel on the dash, I believe the mount I used was hooke, black headlights bezels. Just tinkering. In the near future I need to order a couple end links from teraflex for one of my control arms, I’m not sure how to size them correctly to order the right ones. I may just call them. And I’m still trying to convince myself to pull the trigger on the bartact seat covers.

Made a 270 mile round trip to pick up these:

Even though they're the wrong color, and one of them even has some kind of bedliner on it, they are totally rust free, are complete, and the inner panels don't have a single crack.
At the price I paid, they're still well worth the trip and the sweat equity I'll have in them to repaint.
Actually, I think those are just the right color...

;)

Pull the trigger. Best seat covers I've owned

Today I replaced the spark plugs and the front crankcase vent, grommet, and tube. What a pain that vent and grommet was to remove. Spark plugs looked like the originals with 124k miles on them. Gaps varied from .65 to.85 on the old plugs. Replaced with some iridium tipped autolites. (Yes, the correct ones).
Might be in my head, but she seems to be running better and stronger. Hoping this helps with the mileage a bit.
