Hey, I just did the same thing on my 98! What’s up with the asymmetrical arm extension? Better than what I had. The old mirrors were so trashed that I didn’t upload a profile pic. My new ones must be vanity mirrors.

The installation was pretty straightforward. I ordered from Crutchfield got the free installation kit, with instructions followed them and had no problems.

I start out with the engine cold. I spray it all over with full strength Simple Green & let it sit for a few minutes. If there are really dirty or greasy areas you might need to scrub it a little with a soft brush or a rag. An old toothbrush might be good for tight spots. Then I rinse off the Simple Green with a fine low pressure water mist until I don’t see any traces of the Simple Green. I try to avoid spraying water directly down the air intake (you could cover it) or on anything electrical although I’ve never had a problem even when electrical stuff gets a little wet.
Either drive it around the block or let it idle until it reaches operating temperature. This speeds up the drying out process. You can dry any remaining wet spots with an old towel or just wait a few hours or until the next morning for things to dry completely then you can spot clean any places that are still dirty.
I know & I think about that all the time. I’m certainly not afraid to get it dirty, but, with me, cleaning it up is part of the fun.One trip through some VA red clay mud would fix that for years to come.

After a stolen battery some months ago, I FINALLY secured my hood. I just installed a padlock, since I didn't find a better solution. I am okay with this solution, at least for now. No rattling or anything and not much noticeable, since I wrapped it with a good black tape.
Geez, between your battery being stolen and @Fishtaco having his house broken into and his e bike being stolen, I thought I had to keep an eye on my belongings considering I’m just a stones throw from Detroit. Two places I have always wanted to visit, I always thought that crime in Perth Australia and Athens Greece was low. You might want to consider a move to Detroit
I use Crutchfield for all my stereo needs. I worked there years ago and their store is right down the street from me. You can even get the ReadyHarness so everything is plug and play.
I have my sounds back, and best of all no cost...last weekend I did hit a couple big pot holes on a dirt road so it must have knocked something lose....re-jigged some of the connections and the stereo came back to life.
