What did you do to your TJ today?

So all the posts I seen of y'all taking your tops off, I hate you.

Put mine back on as it's getting hot around these parts.

Mmmmm ...... A/C

Anyone know a good detailer ?

Started work on my phone mount, thanks to a couple of ideas found in this forum!

Just using a bit of bracket steel to mock up what I want. Then will get some nicer steel with no holes. And will paint it black. I might keep it that width so I can add a GoPro mount too.

Pretty solid once it’s in there. But the Ram mount I’m getting I’ll sit the arm on the dash so it doesn’t vibrate. Ram are about to bring out this new apple MagSafe mount which I’ll use with a long arm. But when I take it off road I’ll switch to a proper x-grip ram mount

Just installed some Bestop HighRock 03-06 style mirrors on my 99. They really give it a fresh look. Is there a way to adjust them to where the arms are symmetrical on both sides or is that just how it is?
Hey, I just did the same thing on my 98! What’s up with the asymmetrical arm extension? Better than what I had. The old mirrors were so trashed that I didn’t upload a profile pic. My new ones must be vanity mirrors.

Another little detail… Since selling the hard top, it bothered me that I still had the rear washer and wiper switches. Now they’re replaced with blanks. Thanks @williambmac ! I also modified and moved the OD OFF switch to the far right position where it felt the most natural.

How hard was it to install? Any tricks to keep in mind? I’m looking to put a new head unit in soon. Thanks.
The installation was pretty straightforward. I ordered from Crutchfield got the free installation kit, with instructions followed them and had no problems.

did the squeak occur when driving over bumps?
Yes. It’s totally gone now.
Stunning! How did you do the engine bay? I'm worried to do it incase I fuck the electrics.
I start out with the engine cold. I spray it all over with full strength Simple Green & let it sit for a few minutes. If there are really dirty or greasy areas you might need to scrub it a little with a soft brush or a rag. An old toothbrush might be good for tight spots. Then I rinse off the Simple Green with a fine low pressure water mist until I don’t see any traces of the Simple Green. I try to avoid spraying water directly down the air intake (you could cover it) or on anything electrical although I’ve never had a problem even when electrical stuff gets a little wet.
The next step is to cross your fingers & see if the Jeep starts. ‘Just kidding. I’ve never had a problem starting any vehicle after doing this, but you always feel better knowing it will start up. ☺️ Either drive it around the block or let it idle until it reaches operating temperature. This speeds up the drying out process. You can dry any remaining wet spots with an old towel or just wait a few hours or until the next morning for things to dry completely then you can spot clean any places that are still dirty.
The final step is to spray a fine mist of Formula 303 Aerospace Protectant over the entire engine bay. There’s really no need to wipe anything down unless you just want to because it will dry to a nice even shine without looking too greasy. I suppose you could use Armor All or something similar, but the 303 doesn’t attract dirt or dust. Don’t forget to completely clean & wax the underside of the hood. This will look good & it will be easier to clean the next time.
As with most things, this process is much easier if things don’t get out of hand & it’s too dirty.
Have fun cleaning!

One trip through some VA red clay mud would fix that for years to come. ;) I used to keep my Jeeps in perfect condition until I realized that I wasn't really enjoying them for what they are.

I know & I think about that all the time. I’m certainly not afraid to get it dirty, but, with me, cleaning it up is part of the fun.

After a stolen battery some months ago, I FINALLY secured my hood. I just installed a padlock, since I didn't find a better solution. I am okay with this solution, at least for now. No rattling or anything and not much noticeable, since I wrapped it with a good black tape.

Geez, between your battery being stolen and @Fishtaco having his house broken into and his e bike being stolen, I thought I had to keep an eye on my belongings considering I’m just a stones throw from Detroit 🤣. Two places I have always wanted to visit, I always thought that crime in Perth Australia and Athens Greece was low. You might want to consider a move to Detroit 😆

Head unit decided it had enough and just switched off. Time to pull the stereo and have a look for any loose connections and hope I don’t need a new head unit. Fuse is fineView attachment 250686
I have my sounds back, and best of all no cost...last weekend I did hit a couple big pot holes on a dirt road so it must have knocked something lose....re-jigged some of the connections and the stereo came back to life.
My daughter is happier now as she can turn up the volume and drown out my singing too :p
