They look quite nice and bright.
I think the beam looks much nicer than mine (knockoff of JW Speaker)...although mine are legal for the road.
I'd consider them, but I have an important question.
Question: are these DOT approved?
I do not see the DOT symbol on the lens in the picture, and verification elsewhere. Do they actually have the DOT approved symbol on the lens?
The wording of how they dance around the word "DOT" without actually stating they are DOT approved makes me suspect they are not DOT approved. (like shady lawyer-speak)
Reasons I suspect:
"Certifications: IP67" (no DOT - pretty sure they'd list DOT as a certification if they were approved)
"Exceeds DOT and federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS #108). Highway Approved for all 50 states."
Exceeds DOT safety standards does not mean it's DOT approved, and that DOT stamp is the only thing the law cares about.
What does Highway Approved mean? Maybe it means something. But maybe a police officer looking at your lens is still going to give you a ticket for not having DOT approved lights, regardless of the "Highway Approved" statement you show him on the amazon listing.
Now I'm not at all saying that DOT approval actually means anything...other than a forced legal obligation (and arguably a money-grab).
My guess is that these probably meet or exceed "DOT specifications"...but they didn't want to pay the money to get them DOT approved - which might explain the low price.
(And I do not disagree with anyone that claims there are some non-DOT approved lights that are truly better than DOT approved lights either)
I could be wrong. But if I'm wrong - maybe I'll get a few flames, and "who cares", and a hit to my ego.
But if I'm right - I may save someone an otherwise unexpected fine.
I just wanted to bring this question to light. I'm not sure what they mean by "highway approved for all 50 states". I just know in my province, the lights have to have the DOT symbol on them or else they are not legal. And there have been some people where I live that have been fined for having "illegal lights" on the road.
