Thats right...I knew throttle and customs with a K were there! Thanks for the correction

Looking through that post...I noticed a picture. Anyone else know what the pokey things are sticking up out of the cross member? That would suck to pay the big bucks for a blasted and painted frame, then have to figure out how to remove the shock bolts with undoing all that work.this guys local to me. not sure if he ships.

fixing a frame seems like a daunting task to some, but for some of us it's no big deal. a few chunks of tube and a welder and you can save any frame you want to.
Is the pope Catholic?Trying to figure out if my frame is good enough, needs repair, or time to just buy a new tj.
thoughts?

can't tell the condition, even if i blow it up, lets hope those are new cause that'd be a phone call i'd get hung up on if they were not.Looking through that post...I noticed a picture. Well, there aren't any shocks present... And they are the same color as the rest of the frame. It's an assumption, but I feel pretty good about it, that those are broken bolts that were left in the frame.can't tell the condition, even if i blow it up, lets hope those are new cause that'd be a phone call i get hung up on if they were not.
I was wondering if they were bolts to keep the threads from being paintedWell, there aren't any shocks present... And they are the same color as the rest of the frame. It's an assumption, but I feel pretty good about it, that those are broken bolts that were left in the frame.
Having bought my fair share of "previously loved" parts, I look for that kind of crap before I do anything to refinish them.
thats what i was thinkin also put the bolts in to keep the threads clean.I was wondering if they were bolts to keep the threads from being painted
Stop looking under my WranglerThese rust questions crack me up though.
#1 I guarantee you there are many members of this very forum running around with a frame in identical condition as the subject vehicle. Some even worse. I guarantee it.
#2 this is a subject that can't really give a true accurate opinion of as you can't tell the real question here. It's obviously rusty but is it safe or not. Ultimately this is an in person diagnosis that needs done.....
But again, only if it's a Jeep that the OP really wants to keep and loves. If not who the hell cares. It's a moot point.
Is it setup exactly as you like? Do you love the thing?
Know how to weld or a friend that can?
Yeah man, I bought a cheap flux welder from harbor freight & watched YouTube videos. Now I'm laying dimes!! Not really, they look like shit but I'm getting better.Jeep life is interesting as stated above. If you don't know how to weld, learn. It will save you a few thousand bucks down the line, and can help someone else as well.
I know exactly what you mean. Whoever capped the driver's side of the jeep was also learning. It's solid, but the beads are more like anal beads and anything. I used that to lower the price and when I got home I ground down and evened a bunch of metal then painted it. It's solid, and burned in.Yeah man, I bought a cheap flux welder from harbor freight & watched YouTube videos. Now I'm laying dimes!! Not really, they look like shit but I'm getting better.
Look at these gems. Trying to learn & sticking random shit together. I like to think I've gotten better.I know exactly what you mean. Whoever capped the driver's side of the jeep was also learning. Not too bad. I bought a bunch of scrap metal and now that the weather is getting better I will be making all sorts of "projects" to get the practice, until I tackle something more structurally safe/deadly. I'm more of a grinder than a welderLook at these gems. Trying to learn & sticking random shit together. I like to think I've gotten better.
I showed this to my pal who fabs for a living, he said "it looks like a fucking teenager ejaculated across all those joints".

I was determined to weld up my right front JJ bracket, I've been putting beads down on all kinds of shit. Finally got confident enough after two spools & cutting cross sections to check penetration. I think I got it. Y'all will find out at TJ Fest if it breaks off though...Not too bad. Don't even know what you mean, that's how dangerously confident I am.Where’s the filler wire!?
this a 110V flux welder?Look at these gems. Trying to learn & sticking random shit together. I like to think I've gotten better.

Yeah that’s what I eventually figured outthis a 110V flux welder?
put that bitch on max volts and about 350 (5-6) for wire speed and just draw a 1" straight line slow and steady. see how that does. no back n forth no circles just a straight line.
You got that right. Some however I think are allergic to even the thought of rust.West coast folks are a little more picky because they can be![]()
