I'll tell you what, I've never used a stepper drill bit before, but I'm glad I did. That thing made drilling those holes almost effortless!

$50 for a drillbit, but it was damn worth it!
You really should try to locate a harbor freight. Like $4 and more than enough for sheet metal.

I bought this months ago for another project, so I just happened to have it laying around. Next time I will try a Harbor Freight though.

What did you put over engine to catch debris when drill and cut? What are you planning to use to cut?

Nothing to catch debris. I am just using a huge leaf blower and a high powered shop vac to clean up.

I am using a jigsaw with metal cutting blades. Should be easy now that the corners are all taken care of with the drill bit.

I had never used a step bit until last weekend when I drilled the frame drain holes, those things are phenomenal
I bought a set of 4 different ones off Amazon for like $14

Yes, now I am inclined to buy more. They really work well.

I meant the decision of “do I really want to cut holes in my hood?” part. LOL.

I removed my hood and had it on saw horses, prepped and marked. I sat there for a few minutes just looking at it trying to decide.

My excuse was the cracking paint on the center of the hood. Had it not been for that, I would have had reservations. This in my mind though is cheaper than repainting the hood.

The hard part is done
