What did you do to your TJ today?

I understand your how you feel....
I worked in Engineering for a well known electronics company for 25 years; whose corporate office is in San Diego. Over the years there were countless times I asked myself why certain people retained their jobs doing absolutely nothing and others that were actually productive were furloughed and let go. Too often the answer to a project was to hire a contractor instead of taking the initiative to figure out what was needed and resolve it themselves. When others would say it couldn't be done; I looked at these situations as a challenge.
Reminds me of a project I initiated many years back. Without going into excruciating detail, we needed a new custom datalogger. I told mgmt that myself, and two others would form a "tiger team" and get it done in 90 days if everyone would get out, and stay out, of our way. They looked at me like I had two heads, but gave the go-ahead. It ended up being 110 days because of Xmas break, but we got it done. It was intended to be a 1 to 2 year stopgap, but it is STILL being used today. This was back in 2002!

Welp, I installed my new starter and shit.....cranked once, made the same noise and now won't crank. didn't try the hammer on the solenoid trick....too frustrated...

What else could it be?🤦‍♂️

Where did you buy the starter from? On my previous Jeep (XJ) I went through 3 Autozone "lifetime warranty" starters in 2 weeks and the third one I almost put through their store window. Bought a Mopar reman starter ($$$) and it was good for another 50k miles until I sold the Jeep.

What's a "serious" Jeeper?

42" Pitbull's or my new Covid rated 4x4 badge?

So, you're not a fan of DuroCrap Chinese parts?(n) My Covid rated 4x4 badge was made in the USA.

After finding my pinion nut loose last night and spending part of today researching parts and tools to regear, I caved. I don't have a lift and after pulling my front carrier on the floor of my garage I have no desire to fight this thing without a lift. The trial and error of shimming and working out the wear pattern doesn't look terrible to me, but doing it twice while laying down would totally suck.

Scheduled an appointment with the local Jeep shop to regear to 4.88 next Thursday. Parts and labor $1690.

Also installed some ET style lug nuts since my studs are pretty short for alloy wheels. Had my buddies shop balance the tires and found I have a bent wheel. Now I am wheel shopping. I should have took up smoking crack as a hobby, would have been cheaper.

My subwoofer was completely blown when I got the jeep, to the point of not making any sound, both voice coils were open and the diaphram, well you can see the pictures below. I looked at the quadratec replacement which would bolt right in, and came across the kicker replacement on this forum. The kicker is $20 more and a lot more speaker and a lot better built so I went with it, specifically the 43CWRT672 kicker compRT. This model has dual 2 ohm voice coils which from my reading matches the original. This speaker gives me options should I choose to upgrade later from the original amp, which I am still using. Anyway, got it in the housing and plugged it in with the housing sitting on my seat. Jumped to life immediately and to my untrained ears sounds great even being driven by the weak factory amp. I actually had to turn down the bass on the factory head unit. I know there are plenty of threads about this but thought I'd add mine to the mix. Yes, I had to trim some ribbing off the interior of the woofer housing. It also kind of wedges up against the relief in the box for the storage compartment. It fits, but tightly which is fine. I didn't cut the harness but made little spade stub outs with wire to connect to the speaker. I used the larger terminals as positive which best I can tell is correct. My speaker was too dead to try to test with a battery.

I pulled the console to fix this as well as the console door which tore out of the housing. Tomorrow I'm going to clean the housing and re-install it. I also have a new shifter boot which was ripped to install with all of this. Lots of improvements for just pulling the center console!

Got my GraBars form UPS yesterday so got them installed. USPS brought my new side marker lenses. Now I am trying to find a bulb to replace the bad one in my overdrive switch.

How do you like these? I have the regular velcro grab handles already but they're literally *right* where my head goes when I climb in, and I have to keep my flow on point so I can't be having that. I've looked at these and they look really nice but for the cost they need to be pretty amazing.

Get some amazon knock-offs first, when they break buy the real deal if you like them.
Leave the velcro on the pass side. People seem more comfortable when the doors are off.

I found what appears to be a good deal on an LJ soft top.
Can anyone confirm which OEM top this is? Is it the Mopar Sunrider?
Does anyone have a link to the installation manual/instructions?

Where on the top are those numbers? I'll go look at mine.
