What did you do to your TJ today?

A new pair of shoes👌👍👊. After putting two giant holes in the sidewalk of my STT PRO's on a spur of the moment ride up the canyon after work at 10:30pm🤦🏼‍♂️. The ONLY plus was getting new tires, and wasn't that much of a plus because the Cooper's still had 60% tread remaining. Anyways, after a ton of research, and taking myself out of 35's I decided to go from 33/12.50's to 33/10.50's and so far I'm glad that I did. Nothing against the 12.50's as I actually think I like the looks of the wider tire better. However the tall, skinny General Grabber X3's sure make the Jeep feel a bit more nimble if that makes sense? The Jeep also "seems" to have a little bit more get up and go. Not sure if that's all in my head though, I now use 5th gear a lot more often so it's probably not. Can't wait to see the difference when the white stuff flies here in Sanpete County, Ut. The added bonus with the Generals is that the red lettering on the sidewalls really go good with the color scheme that the ol Rubicon🤘.

Where has this distinctive TJ been all my life ? @Hog! He's got him a Woobicon.

Well this thread is turning into a regular for me.

Washed 'em.

Let my boy Elroy drive my 03 to dove hunt and around some.

Worried and prayed.

Came up with every excuse imaginable to drive a Tj topless somewhere all weekend.

Saw a 3/4 harvest moon tonight coming home from my dinner and working at my cabinet shop on an island for my wife. A Jeep windshield is a nice frame for any picture. Really fine.

Summer winding down, cool nights, cool mornings, perfect mid day Jeep weather.

I've slipped home from work a few times and got my RinoCon to finish my day up in.

Waiting on my first Johnny Joint to come , got a feeling it won't be my last.

See ya tomorrow, same TJ Forum.

Backwind- Saturday I took a 2013 JK dash apart , radio issues. Went good, drove it some, pulled 34" tires well for stock gears (I checked 'em)

Tell me that 'black syrup' didn't come out after your flushed out your coolant ?

It did. I used Pretone Flush, then flushed with distilled 5 or 6 times (until the water came out clear). Then I decided I would be thorough and try Thermocure (I live by the motto anything worth doing is worth overdoing). After 3 days of driving with the Thermocure, I drained the black stuff. Then, 7-8 more distilled flushes and the water was pretty clear.

Wow, Looks like treacle... Was it ever done before ?

I doubt it. I flushed the new to me 2005 TJ with 64,000 kilometres (for my friends not in the US, Myanmar and Liberia) in May.

You should try Thermocure, it works and the smell of sulfur is mostly foul/slightly refreshing.

Did you use one bottle that treats 10 litres

Well it was actually yesterday but I got rid of the 'Chrome nerf bar' that the previous owner installed and mounted a less obnoxious step. I realize it would not work for serious Jeepers, but it will serve it's purpose for us old folks.

Very nice!

I have the the chrome nerf bars on mine from the previous owner. What make/brand did you install on yours?

The last time I checked the tire pressure, the front passenger tire was low. Since that was the very first time I personally checked the tire pressure, I decided to "keep an eye on it". Checked it again today, all others were fine, but this one was low again. Pulled it off the Jeep, swapped on the spare. Found a small nail. Its now on the tailgate, trip to Discount Tire tomorrow to get it fixed. Sprayed a spot of white paint on it so I can find it again...
Did some testing of the new CB. A bit of ignition noise that goes away entirely when I engage the ANL switch, although I'll eventually add some additional braid grounds to the block, exhaust, etc. What the ANL doesn't get rid of is the cube LED off road lite noise - just a horrid hash! My LED headlites are silent, but those cubes are ridiculously noisy. Switch mode regulators are fantastic, but cheap ones are noisy! I should see if I can pick up the same noise on the new stereo on AM...

Preparing for extended highway duty this week. Had some issues to address.

1. Check all fluids engine and drivetrain. All fluids full and clean. Found small oil leak at pan near rear.

2. Check on small oil leak. Just a drop or two on the floor from time to time. Found all oil pan bolts loose, oil weeping from pan. Tightened all bolts 1/4-1/2 turn. Cleaned off oil from rear of pan, and transmission.

3. Hunt mystery vibration in drivetrain. Found a problem here.

Checked pinion angle front and rear, both look good with my angle finder. Paid special attention to all drive shaft u-joints no issues here. Found rear yoke to differential loose at pinion. Nut was hand tight. Removed nut, reapplied red loctite, installed nut to 160 ft/lb. Smoothed out vibes a lot, less gear noise on coast side. Drove 15 miles on freeway at 75 mph and check temp of rear diff and pinion with my hand. Not too hot to touch, similar to front diff so that's a good sign. Hope the bearing is ok, no noise, no leaks. Budgeting fun money for a diff overhaul and new gears soon as a precaution (maybe 90-120 days out) I want to go to 4.56 or 4.88 since I have a six speed. Hope it makes it until I am ready.

Previously I installed a separate wiring harness for the headlights which increased voltage to the headlights (11.3 to 14.1V). This modification increased the amount of light the headlights produced plus reduced the load on the factory headlight wiring and MFS. Today I installed a set of Hella E code headlight housings and H4 60/55 W bulbs.
The Hella H4s produce a good amount of light for $77 and are not near as expensive as LED headlights. I am not fond of the higher wavelengths (5000K and higher) that most headlight manufacturers use.

Nuffin.

Just drove my '03 to work with the hardtop on, and got so wound up with frustration from employee mistakes I snuck home at 4, got my topless RinoCon and actually got some work done (and slipped in a rock climb at my locker test spot 😁)

People say you can't fix stupid....let me tell you guys something... orthopedic surgeons, lawyers, auto body guys and mechanics fix it every day.

What is really hard is to FINANCE IT!

I want to be be a good boss, and I want my company to be a good place to work...but please bring your A game so we can get enough done to pay you.

Don't misunderstand...I'm not in a bind financially...and I'm not going to be.

I nearly lost everything I had in 2010, and I am 10 years older and keenly aware of what causes that. Disorganization and the resulting lack of productivity primarily..and I have little tolerance for that.

Jeep on.

I understand your how you feel....
I worked in Engineering for a well known electronics company for 25 years; whose corporate office is in San Diego. Over the years there were countless times I asked myself why certain people retained their jobs doing absolutely nothing and others that were actually productive were furloughed and let go. Too often the answer to a project was to hire a contractor instead of taking the initiative to figure out what was needed and resolve it themselves. When others would say it couldn't be done; I looked at these situations as a challenge.

Thank you. I've been watching your posts since day one.. you have a very high degree of mechanical aptitude and good input.
