What did you do to your TJ today?

Picked up this blank slate off craigslist for a utility/kayak/weekend camper trailer. It’s a Northern Tool aluminum trailer similar to the HF one. Nice thing is it folds up too so I can store it during the winter. PO only used it once to haul a canoe. First thing gotta clean up the wiring and swap out the bias tires for radials.

keep saving, that skid needs to be tucked to at-least the factory position. You are on the right track.

sure. It will just take me until next year to get there. And since it’s mainly a pleasure vehicle vs a trail toy, my more immediate concern is fixing the shifter thing.

My intent is to replace the control arms with adjustable one at a time with the SYE in mind.

If all 4 need replacement, how would you prioritize them?

Because this thread needs pics, here are some of my old gears. I’m curious how the gears work. Like how are they oriented in the housing and what is turning what.

I've been bored at home and finally did the double din upgrade today. I'd been waiting for last year's Pioneer 8500 price to drop because $800 isn't in the budget just to have GPS. Because I'm impatient I ended up buying a really cheap Chinese Android unit. I figured the cutting will now be done so I can upgrade easily if this one dies. I loaded it up with about 20 GB of music and offline maps for the GPS. I have to say so far i like it more than I expected for $140. The OBDII app alone is almost worth it. Fast Bluetooth and WiFi are pretty handy also. I'm going out in the desert tomorrow or Friday to test the GPS maps offline. I still need to mount the backup cam somewhere but the cable is ran. That looks great! May have to add this to my future project list!

Installed @mrblaine 16 inch VANCO big brake kit after I powdercoated it a triple bronze caliper, metallic beige caliper saddle and blackjack knuckle.

That looks beautiful! This is one of the mods I'd like to do. Unfortunately, due to the Reid knuckles, I can't. My current full size Chevy/Jeep single piston calipers don't stop the LJ like these do!

I see the Amazon Prime floating price has it up $10 from what I got it for. Usually the price goes down after I buy it.
To each his own, glad you like it and all that. BUT - my not wanting a screen of any kind in my Jeep - or any other vehicle for that matter, is why I didn't buy a new or newer one. I think I'm "done" with new vehicles all around, too much "technology"!

Agreed. The TJ has about as much tech as I want. ABS and fuel injection. I'm still up in the air about airbags.

Fuel injection is great, I'm not too happy about a computer controlling it though. Yea, I'll admit that the computer control works very well - but the overall reliability just isn't there with ANY electronic device (Lifelong computer/electronics tech/engineer here!) coupled to the fact that it costs an obscene amount of money when (not IF; WHEN) you have to replace thing darn thing that actually costs less than $50 to make, means I'm not too much of a fan. I've never seen the point of exploding dashboards if you're wearing your seatbelt, but maybe I'm out to lunch on this one. ABS at least isn't "critical path" - if it fails, the brakes still work as always. But what put me over the top are the "phone home" built-in cell phones and infotainment touch screens that have made a sudden appearance in the last 5 years or so - our overlords mandating backup cameras forced screens into every vehicle. I figure I have 25+ more years on this planet this go-around, I can probably ignore this nonsense like I have so much else over the years.
