Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What did you do to your TJ today?

Built a hardtop storage cart with those plans floating around on Pinterest. Still need foam or carpet or something to cover up the contact points on the wood but overall I'm happy with how it turned out. Casters are surprisingly expensive, accounted for 90% of costs ha.

Nice! I’ve been thinking about trying to build something myself. Do you happen to have your measurements of all your cuts handy where you could snap a picture to share?

This is what we used. I used 2 1/2" casters instead. I get my Jeep back tomorrow and plan to pull the top for the season in the next couple days. I'll update with pictures when we do, assuming it works as planned.

Started installing my Yaesu 400xdr ham radio. Then I ordered the Vanco 16” big brake kit from black magic brakes along with the hydro assist steering bracket kit for my PSC hydro assist set up. Then I had to get the black magic brakes blue billet brake master cylinder covered bling to go along with it as well.

Popped the driver side door panel off and pulled the window. Inspected the outside door handle sawtooth retainers and gave them a couple good taps. Made sure the spring stops were fully engaged with the sawtooth retainers. Outside handle is no longer loose. Less than an hour's work. Easy peasy,

Skid looks great. What product / brand did you use? I need to eventually do the same.....but damn this isolation has made me lazy!!
I did a coat of Primer and a can of black rustoleum glossy black. I banged out a whole bunch of dents and did 2 coats.
Honestly I don't think it will look good for long its skid plate.

I need to do the same. How did it come out? Any tricks?

No tricks. Super simple. I drained the radiator, removed the 2 heater hoses and the top radiator hose. The biggest pain is the plastic cover over the wire bundle next to the firewall. I'm not sure which year they started using that, my '00 didn't have it but my '04 did. If yours has it, take your time and remove it to get good access to the back bolts. AND, make sure you clean all the surfaces really well and only use a FelPro gasket. I'm putting it back together today, but the total job will only be 2-3 hours.

Today I investigated an annoying clunk on the passenger side. It turns out the middle body mount attachment point was completely rusted. Drivers side not quite as bad. The front and rear mounts look good. Interesting that it only rusts the middle. A brief search of this forum turned up the answer. My new patches from rustrepairpatch.com will be here during the week. I have a MIG welder, just need to learn to use it. Working from home anyway. I'll just keep my laptop nearby...View attachment 149034

Is your skid plate welded to the frame?

Yah, I noticed that’s the location for a lot of TJ’s that I see ‘for sale’ in lots, up here in the NE. Interesting how its that spot more often. Least from what Ive noticed.

Keep track of those rubber grommets. You won't find them online if you lose one.
