Anyone try these u-Box rocker panels / steps?

I have them on my jeep. Very happy with them. they are heavy, solid. Will do the job and look good

How precise do you need to be drilling the holes? I’m probably overthinking this but I was born that way.😂

If you want to overthink where it actually matters, figure out how to install these without chopping up the body mounts.

loosen body mount bolts , jack body up 3/8s inch or so, slide them in, lower body and tap step in snug with a rubber mallet. Center the drill in the holes on the step. very easy install. Took me about and hour. If you like them, get them. Screw the nay sayers.

I already have them, just haven’t risen to the top of the to-do list.

That would actually be quite easy to do if it is necessary. Just not sure that its necessary.

There are other ways to compensate without cutting the mounts. My question is...should the other body mounts be adjusted for the 3/16” added to the four where the rocker guard is mounted.

Fill in the gap between the faux-slider/useless step and the body mount seat in the tub. Then find a body mount spacer that is thick enough to let the other 7 mounts do their job.

Or you can cut out the section that ties into the body mounts. Then figure out where else to attach the faux-slider/useless step to the tub.

The best option is to find a different design.

I get it. You don’t like these. Fine. Don’t use them. They aren’t for you. Not everyone uses their Jeep the same way. You might be a hardcore rock climber. I’m not. I have no interest in rock climbing. Thanks for the help though.

I don't like them for a daily driver ice cream getter with the grandkids Jeep either. Bad design is bad design.

Sounds like either the frame or the tub is no longer straight if you didn't do anything to address the body mounts.

Nothing else needs to be done to the other spacers. Ignore Mr know it all

I have some similar side steps on my Jeep. When I first installed them & tightened everything back down, I could actually spin the rubber donut that weren't captive under the side steps. I was surprised that the tub could be so rigid. I ended up adding a 3/16" spacer (painted flat bar with a hole drilled in the middle) on the two just behind the front wheels. Not sure it actually did anything, but the rubber donuts are actually tight now.

I haven't done anything to scrape them up yet. But the finish looks a lot like the Duplicolor Bed Armor (from O'Reilly's) that I sprayed the front & rear bumpers with. I figured I'll be re-spraying them at some point.
