What did you do to your TJ today?

I couldn't pinpoint it, but then I didn't really try. I was already committed to replacing the body mounts because the visible rubber was hard and cracked. And then replacing this one fixed the squeak, so I got lucky.

Whenever I hit a sharp bump with the rear wheels, I would get a sequence of a few short squeaks. Sounded like something was making noise while moving back and forth a little bit. The sound was definitely coming from the back, and seemed to be from something inside the cab. I suppose rubbing the outside of the body is close enough to sound like that.

If you don't want to buy new body mounts just to see if they help, you could lift up your tub and put some silicone spray on each of the mounts near where you're hearing the squeak and see if that makes a difference. Pick a light lubricant that will eventually dry out and that won't harm rubber or painted surfaces, and maybe hit them one by one to see if it helps.

Yea I’m pretty sure I need new body mounts too...

Started replacing the front lower control arms with adjustable ones. I did the rears to get rid of vibrations, figured it was time to do the fronts to dial in the pinion angle better. Been a PITA so far. The bottom bolt on the driver's side won't clear the differential housing - no idea how Jeep assembled this. The other side was completely froze up. The bolt must have rusted to the busing. Looks like new bolts and some fun with the sawzall tonight after work!! I am betting it will ride a lot better with the correct pinion angle and suspension that isn't binding up.

Busy day on the jeep today lots of stuff knocked off the list.
1. Installed new battery terminals (hate they call them military) but i liked the idea.
2. Installed new aftermarket radio adapter. On my 3rd. (Tabs keep braking)
3. Installed new antenna was getting bad reception. (Wife made me do it before I can buy a better radio).
4. Removed the shift light from cluster. (Annoying as hell)
5. replaced defective blue led back light in cluster.
6. tried to install blue led in hvac control, (failed lights are to long)
7. reinstalled door switch fuse.
8. Rekeyed new ignition cylinder to original key (ok i paid a locksmith but i removed it and installed it)
9. Checked out steering shaft due it up down play. (Waiting on parts to repair)
10. Going to clean up. Its going to be date night. (I might even take my wife along)

I installed my remote control for Engo SR9 winch. It was really tight fitting the little remote box in the sealed box solenoid area, took it all apart, wiring up was pretty easy. Had to take a file and shave off about an 1/16th inch off the corners of the plastic remote transmitter to get it to fit in there properly. Took some time, but got it all back in and tightened up. Works great!

Took doors and top off, slapped on a driver side mirror.

Let 4 yr old and 1 yr old neices crawl and climb all over it. 1 yr old played with radio. 4yr old stood on top of sound bar.

Head to desert tomorrow.. 101 degrees... might flip top back on.

How did you remove the shift light? The thing drives me crazy!

Remove the cluster from the dash (very easy) then you will see the shift light socket. Half turn and you remove the bulb.
True its very easy....my daughter did it with my guidance when she was 11....takes about 20 mins.

New spare tire cover, J E E P written in as a US flag color with paws for the Es.
Changed the oil, used 10w-30 still but full synthetic. Easiest vehicle I've ever changed oil on ;)
Appears to be a bad oil drain plug, had teflon tape on it. Have evidence of too much drippage on cardboard. New plug ordered Amazon Prime, due in Monday, will recover new oil during install.
Topped off the other fluids. Considering a brake fluid flush. Probably have my mechanic do it next annual inspection.
Got the under hood light to work.
Replaced the heater fan switch. Did a thorough cleaning with shop vac and brushes under the removed panel areas. Discovered the fan knob had a hot glue fix, new knob on order, eBay. My cheap Harbor Frieght auto panel plastic lever set worked great.
However, the new switch appears to click great but no fan except on high. Fan resistor now also on order.
Last but not least, I removed more black paint overspray from the lights. Previous owner was big on trying to maintain the Jeep, but apparently had a paper and tape phobia when it came to painting after his body rust repairs. When we got it, I spent a lot of time with rubbing & polishing compounds to clean all the front turn signals and marker lights of black paint overspray, they were about half covered. The back lights appeared to be clean at first glance but the outer sides were worse than the fronts had been. Could not find my Dremel buffing wheel, so I put rubbing compound on a worn out sanding drum to get the bulk of the paint off. Initial hand rubbing had minimal effect. I used 320 and 600 grit sandpaper by hand to clean that up more, followed by hand rubbing the rubbing & polishing compounds.
I sure hope SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) appreciates all the time, effort, and $$ I put into HER Jeep ;)
Next spring I plan on reworking much of the previous rust "repairs" on the fenders and rear corners. They were made to pass inspection, my repairs will be for longevity and much better looks ;)
At least it's basic black, not hard for color matching!

I removed the softtop, stored everything and then put the hardtop back on with a couple friends. Took like 5min with 3 people. The Jeep looks so different. I think I prefer the soft top look but it rains so much here in the winter. I think this will become a yearly ritual for me.

I also took the rear seat out. I had bought these tie down things that I installed along with fresh thumbscrews for securing the hardtop. Need to figure out a good compartmentalized storage for the rear.

?

I really like those tie down loops. Tried an Amazon search, couldn't find them. Do you have a link or an exact name to search those out?
I'd just use them with bolts (soft top only) to hold a bungee net in place for when the top is open or doen.

View attachment 55483 View attachment 55484 View attachment 55485 View attachment 55486 I must admit that after having 2 surgeries in the last 5 months and not being able to walk without the assistance of a walker during that time I have not done much at all to my Jeep. I did buy an enclosed utility trailer to use for camping, I also put a hitch on it and a Trasharoo on the spare tire. I have a fridge, microwave and a queen size inflatable bed on a fold up frame. The interior is insulated and stained plywood on the walls, I also have carpet on the floor. There is lighting and sliding windows on each side. I will post interior pictures once I get it finished.

Nice trailer. I see you have an extra side door latch retainer to stop someone from locking you in, smart ;)
I seen some conversions done where a whole man door and window wall is added just inside the rear ramp or trailer doors. Open the rear and there's a camper wall.
Did you add a battery and some LED interior lights?
Or a 115vac power inlet?
A portapotty is an excellent camper conversion upgrade.
