Well, I narrowed down the dash vibration to worn motor mounts. This weekend I crawled underneath the Jeep to have a look and realized that the driver side will be somewhat challenging. Any helpful hints on how to attack this project?
Ran into same problem scroll through bottom 1/2 this thread post #9 and it was my fix. Pushed the bolt out as far as I could, cut it with a grinder and replaced with a new bolt from other side. I miss spoke... used the Anchor kit, it's Rubber (edited last response). Looked at several and blended them together in my head. You used poly mounts?
In the past when I changed the motor mounts on my '98 XJ I used a floor jack and a piece of plywood under the oil pan to support the engine.
I asked for the assistance from a Jeep friend to cut down the beneath and above access.
Suggest you replace both motor mounts and at least inspect the transmission mount.
Remove the bracket from the engine block on that side. Take the bracket and motor mount out the bottom. That will save your bolt. When you put it back in put the bolt in the other direction.Well, I narrowed down the dash vibration to worn motor mounts. I didn’t put anything on the oil pan,I used a piece of pipe,in a floor jack placed on various places on the block, not a hard job at all when I did my motor mount lift.
It's been a looonnnng time since I installed mine, but I'm pretty sure my set of crow's foot wrenches came in handy for the 2nd time in my life.
How long do motor mounts last? I know off-roading beats them up more than normal driving. How many miles did you all get out of your original mounts before replacing?
