Need input on selling my TJ

That's the current situation in Germany... just so you know what we're paying. You can try selling it to a European reseller, but as Chris wrote, selling is difficult... these cars are gathering dust on European shelves... very high vehicle taxes and excessive fuel consumption. Something between $8,000 and $10,000 seems realistic to me.

nothing is selling here (southeastern PA), nothing. I see TJs all the time go up, within a few days the prices is lowered, weeks later it's still sitting, sometimes they lower the price again, many sit forever, eventually they disappear off the site & while I can't know what happened, my guess is that the ad gets pulled rather than a sale.

People are just broke ass broke paying $8.00 for a $2.89 box of Twinkies & so on down the line

In life, Twinkies necessary, relatively useless 4,500lb toy, not so much

Are JKs as bad of a market? I wonder if it just has to do with the age of these TJs now. They have been making more Jeeps the last two decades and most people looking for a toy vehicle would probably rather have a newer version.

FB Marketplace gets more views.

No doubt, but as a former buy and sell CL junkie, I see a pattern of considerably higher prices and better vehicles than F/B. Perhaps because CL charges for a car ad now, who knows. Id also say maybe 50% of the ads I put on FB or ask questions about get responses, 70% of those are scams. At any rate the more exposure the better.

Everybody here knows my views on facesuck - BUT - if you're on it anyway, I'd post it both places. CL still does get lots of traffic, and it isn't FB.

I don't like answering 100 questions, so I always just parked my Jeeps in high traffic areas to sell them. I put details and my email to contact me if they're actually interested. That way they could look the Jeep over before bothering me.
This was the corner of main highway (route 29) where I used to live.

Nothing is selling at all. Talk to any used car dealer right now and they're all saying the same thing. The market has absolutely tanked.

Same in NEPA too... lots and lots of clean TJ's, JK's, and JKU's sitting for weeks and months without selling. Oddly enough, lots of options from southern states. It seems that many that have moved to NC, FL, or GA have moved back. I'm at the point now where I may actually buy a 2-dr JK and stick it in my friend's lot until I'm ready to build it up...

there's a lot of overlap too, people will post on both, I don't follow Craigs List as much but I don't think they're moving much if any quicker there. People are really hurting financially, and even those that aren't are being more cautious, seems we've all been knocked down a peg or two.

Indeed, it's not unique to TJs, I follow all kinds of vehicles and they're sitting too, along with motorcycles, atvs, gym equipment, you name it, it's a struggle

yea I think there's a lot of mover's remorse, Covid picked up the planet and gave it a good shake & as a result many just knew the grass was greener anywhere but where they were, then they found out.

I wish that was true for Toyotas in my area. I need another work car. I paid $3,000 for my 2006 Scion with under 100,000 miles, 7 years ago. The price has doubled for the same old car with similar mileage.

Yeah right now $3000 in my area buys you a rusty shitbox with no wheels. I think a lot of stuff is sitting because people don't have extra cash laying around, combined with the fact that sellers are overly optimistic about what the thing they are selling is worth. Stuff that is truly a good deal sells quickly.
