This trip just continues to deliver craptastic results - the gift that keeps on giving. I'm more or less GTG, but now my wife has it. The tour is moving on today, we're not. We will revisit once wife is able to travel as to whether we catch up, or just abort the mission. We're convinced its the damn food.

I stepped outside to take a few pix, here's one...

Update: We feel like we're poisoned by spice that we cannot get away from. I located the Pizza Hut that is nearby - will get food from there. There's also a KFC in the same store. McDonald's is fairly close, but not where I want to walk to...

Hope Pizza Hut improves your experience.

When I was in South Korea for work I got so tired of Kimchi for all meals that Pizza Hut and Outback became the economical solution.

Yea - I like most ethnic foods - but Thai disagrees with me, and apparently Egyptian does too. We have acid indigestion on top of everything else. I prefer Greek food over anything else, but Lebanese is a close second. I'm a complete "Shawarmoota" (Whore for Shawarma).

I looked at the pic and thought, well, he's right by the KFC/Pizza Hut, lol. Cook Door is a pretty decent Egyptian fast food place for shawarma, kefta, etc.

Agreed, as i was told when traveling, it’s three things

the things you see, the people you meet, and the food you eat.

Spent 10 days in Egypt back in 2004. i didn’t like the local food. finally found roasted chicken and that wasn’t spiced nearly as much. out tour guide tried to get us another meal at the sphinx.

it was this beautiful looking tasteless stuff. i immediately walked over to the Pizza hut after.

hope you get to enjoy some of the journey

I'm not a fan of Pizza Hut pizza, kind of bland, but in this instance, bland is what's needed. Got a medium "cheese lover's", and fed a protesting wife who just wanted to sleep. Here's praying it helps. I actually too a powerful antacid that helped more than any of the other pills we've been taking - we'll see. My HPs sent an inspirational message of comfort which was much appreciated.

Serious question. . . did y'all brush your teeth with tap or bottled water?

A coworker got taken out by the tap water on day 2 of a trip. Regular Coca-Cola is my go-to magic elixir cure-all (placebo?) whenever I'm in that part of the world. I don't drink it at home but do when abroad.

Traveling somewhere voluntarily where the water makes you sick has always been crazy to me

I've never traveled abroad, but I have always heard that in certain areas like the middle east you should not eat the local food. I talked with a guy from over there and he even said when he goes back home to visit he can no longer eat the food because he will get sick. Said he lives on fast food while there.

Now THAT is an interesting comment. It seems - THUS FAR - that my food theory is correct. Diarrhea seems to be gone in my case - wife is asleep but hasn't gotten up in awhile. Keeping fingers crossed.

EDIT: She got up - not feeling all that hot, but no diarrhea with her either at the moment.
