Where do I go from here with my suspension?

Wanting to get the most I can from My suspension. Thinking about a mid arm or long arm over my short arm suspension. Also
When should I outboard my shocks ? Should I go with 2.0 shocks or coil overs ?
It’s a lot to think about. How have y’all put this puzzle together ?
 
I’ll piece together a budget to accomplish the best articulation ( range of motion ) I can get from my 97 TJ. I’d like to do it one step at a time, but don’t know if that’s possible. I’m gonna do most of the work myself. Along with y’all’s advice. Thinking I should do the longer arm first .?
 
It’s always something that gets in the way of movement. I have all this room to move but the shocks limit your motion. Or you have to get a taller lift. Then the short arms start to bind and seem to twist the axle.
I remember you having a lot done to your suspension to reach the best of all worlds ,
Are you still enjoying all that work you did ?
 
Really it’s just the fact that there is much more room in the wheel well for the tire to move and it’s limited by shock length and the only way to solve that is to outboard the shocks and gain much more movement in the rear. At least that’s what I think.
 
I think you have a lot of research to do. Post #4 you said your short arms are binding. Maybe ask yourself why and get to the bottom of that.
You also said your shocks are limiting up travel. Have you removed the and cycled the suspension to make sure everything is work correctly?

Here is a link to a picture of some coil overs on a built rig. Maybe the builder could give you some guidance on how to make this happen should you want to make this happen.

Sounds like coil overs dont work well on stock axles ?? But outboarding regular shocks will ?

The difference has everything to do with packaging. Outboarding 12" Foxes and separate springs onto factory axles is easy. Cramming coilovers onto factory axles is a much larger challenge.

I did take springs ,shocks , bump stops , and track bar loose and pushed the axle up to the top of the spring perches. And they met almost perfectly. And nothing else got In The way.

Focus more on the shock travel. From ride height, how much does the shock go up and how much does the shock go down?

Working on that now. It’s not 50/50 yet.
I ordered new rear springs for a 4” lift , I’ll bet that’s going to even them out perfectly.

it will be about 5” both ways.
 
It's it your desire to run coil overs on stock axles? Good luck.
