New Tool Day

Here is the 250 gallon fuel tank that we have had for probably 50 years. For the last 10 I have been using it as a waste oil tank, probably 1/4 full.

The funnel is a weight out of a chicken house bell drinker that I cut the bottom out of. These things make great funnels for fueling tractors and such.

Okay that's great ! , So I guess all the oil stains on the tank and floor were the result of an unauthorized midnight dumping by the neighbors kids !

You see the little oil drain pan on the floor. I was going to drain it kinda dropped it and oil went everywhere including on me, luckily none went in the tank........ 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Stop trying to think logically......... 🤣 🤣 🤣

Probably call a buddy of mine that works for a waste oil company and have him come pump it out. Normally they pay for it, but I will give it to him to get it picked up.

To be honest, if I still had our old farm I would do environmentally unfriendly things with it, like weed control along the fences and around the Chicken houses.

  ;)🤫🤫

With the upcoming transmission fluid change. I decided to solve my problem of not having a good drain pan for the transmission.

So I googlefood drain pans. This bad boy popped up and it's technically not a drain pan, it's a mortar/mud mixing pan.

Figured I could set it on the ATV jack, raise it up unbolt the pan and it can drain into the pan and hopefully not spill any.

If you really wanna not make a mess get one of these. I did the tranny on my jk and didn’t spill a drop. Okay maybe a drop or two but not much!😆

Those work great. I got a couple of them years ago at Lowes for draining transmissions and radiators.

Just picked up a grade 8 hardware assortment from these guys. $120 seems like a pretty good deal for that assortment considering my local hardware store is usually close to a dollar a bolt for this size range and grade 8 nylocs are usually fairly hard to find.

I have been looking at those same ones. If I didn't have a feed/seed store that stocks them close to the house i probably would have ordered already.

Yeah, I'm kind of out in the boonies. I have a Carquest franchised "hardware" store about 15 minutes from me, an Ace a little over that, but Fastenal and Big Box stores are a solid 30 minutes. Its a serious inconvenience to be mid project and have to run to town for a bolt and waste an hour or two. At this price point, I think I'll keep one of these on hand. Won't solve all the shortages, but its a pretty good assortment for the random crap I make.

I'm the same way, wife's cousin works at the store and told me they were getting them, they are 5 miles from the house. They have had stuff Lowe's and Ace didn't.

I normally buy extra from them to keep a small stock in the shop.

Yeah I started buying a bunch of kits like that when I moved out here too. So annoying to get stopped by a .20 bolt or nut

... a .20 bolt or nut
Man, I think you've been living off your stock for too long. The days of 20 cent anything are long gone. Last weekend, I went to Tractor Supply and bought two 3/8-16x2 Gr 8 hex head bolts, two 3/8" flat washers, and four Gr 8 nuts to fix my log splitter. The bill was just under $10, so $1.25 per component.

I’ve always said you had Gr 8 nuts, Scott.

Wait, what???
