Greetings, long time listener, first time caller.
I have a 2000 TJ, Dana 44s, 456 gears, Fox Adjustable. I spend most my time in the mountains of the PNW, so I see a bit of everything. Some rocks, some mud, gravel, roads that are made of baseball sized rocks, and then pavement. I just put Fox adjustable shocks on and got rid of the worn-out RC's the previous owner had on it (holy improvement). This jeep has only been mine for 6 months give or take.
The previous owner did basically everything to it, but they did a weird lift. They put a 6 inch in the front and a 4 inch in the back. It rides fine, drives down the road 85mph with 35's. No bump steer, no vibrations. Two finger driving.
But I do not like the way the jeep sits. The front coils are RE and I can't figure out what the rears are. They have no markings and are just black. The previous owner said they might be BDS? But who knows.
Anyway, I would like to change all 4 out and level it out and fix a couple little things it has going on. Or at least make the attempt.
I know 6 inch is tall for a jeep, But it is already there, and I don't want to go down because I would need to replace components in the front, at least that is what I was told. Could be wrong. I am also not a big body lift fan. It a me thing. No real reason.
I was looking at the Clayton 5.5" coils and was wondering if anybody runs clayton coils. How do they ride? Are they super stiff? I would like to find that happy medium. If anyone has any suggestions on other coils in that 5 to 6 range, I'd love to hear. I am looking for a good ride, but not too much sag when I have gear in the back like I currently get.
The one pic is my buddies YJ for ride comparisons. The nose is higher in the air that it looks. The last owner really liked it, I am not sold on it. I feel like I'm in a recliner all the time.
