Will the springs on my new BDS relax after some use?

Just finished installing a 3" BDS list on my. 02 TJ. Does anyone know if the springs will relax after a little use. I ended up with 4" +. Way more lift than I was after.

The springs should relax a bit after driving it for a while but not as much as an inch most likely.

Do you have a lot of weight on your TJ such as aftermarket bumpers, winch, a larger spare tire, etc.?

Measure the length of the springs right now as the Jeep sits in the garage.

No extra weight. Just stock with a hardtop. Maybe down the road I'll add heavier bumpers and accessory holders

Go measure your springs. The final ride height of whatever springs you used will be determined by the weight placed upon them.

Factory springs on a factory TJ measured about 12" front and 8" rear. Anything more than that with your new springs is the lift height.

They're 3 inches longer front and back. What's causing the extra lift is that the new springs are significantly heavier than the originals so they don't compress much under the weight of the jeep. Thanks.

What do the springs measure? Don't do any math yet.

Then that’s 3” of lift and not 4”. Go measure again, don’t include the coil spring isolator at the top. Just measure the spring.

The problem is that my result is 4 inches of lift. I'll have to learn to live with that. I'm sure it's because the new ones are made of heavier wire. .583" vs .5". And 24 years younger. Thanks.
