What did you do to your TJ today?

I managed to get everything wired up today. That tap-fuse thingamabob worked like a charm. I picked fuse 6, the rear wiper:

Amazing that the fuse is wired up, my car came with a soft-top only from factory.

Finally removed the horrid window tint film that had been applied by some previous owner. Sadly, it was well applied and looked great, but it turned everything outside odd varying shades of green or red. Weirdest thing to be stopped at a crosswalk and watching green/purple/pink people standing on the corner. I may re-tint in the future, but certainly with a better quality film.

All tint adhesive is the same. A blow dryer and rubbing alcohol removes it quickly.

Gave George a bath. (I will hug him and squeeze him and call him George)

I was over the moon to get this vehicle, but I think life got in the way and it had a couple of bugs that I was slow in getting ironed out…

I did and I have been so happy.

Drives great and with Blaine‘s brakes, It will stop on a dime and give you change back.

The first picture gives the impression it has some kind of light bar…never.

Started installing the body mount repair plates (actually started the project last Sunday). The plan started off to replace only the 3 mounts on each side with repair plates from Taboo Customs. The hardware on all 6 side mounts is frozen and needed cut off. To facilitate the repairs and tilt the body off the frame, I needed to remove the other 5 mounts. The front one and the 2 in front of the fuel tank came out without a fight, but the 2 at the rear, the captive nuts spun.

I ended up cutting the bolts and basically copied the process, detailed in the video posted at Taboo customs, for repairing these mounts. Before I started making sparks at the rear end of the Jeep, I took the fuel tank out (and it was a good thing I did*). Making new body mount brackets with welded 7/16" nuts wasn't that difficult (I had some leftover 1/8" steel from the bumper project). Welding them to the rear crossmember though was tricky as the cross member material was thinned out from rust. Sorry, I didn't take pictures of those.

The pics attached are the 3 passenger side mounts, The few booger looking welds are partially due to wire feed problems (Harbor Freight MIG wire isn't consistently .035") and partially due to me being somewhat lousy at overhead welding.

I hope to complete the 3 driver side body mounts tomorrow (although I expect I'll run out of welding gas and will have to finish up with flux core).

*Good thing I pulled the fuel tank. I'd estimate 70% of the metal on the fuel tank skid plate was rusted away. I also found the metal filler neck has a small hole rusted through it (but am not sure why it didn't throw a CEL for code P0456 or P0442, evaporated fuel leak). So, I've got a new fuel tank skid plate, straps and filler neck ordered.
