Car pics too cool not to share

The guy's like 6'40", and drives something that's literally called a MINI

6'4", or 4'6", after all he's driving a mini.

6' 5" to be precise, and 255 pounds until about a year ago, for the record. Pygmies. 🧐

And that MINI has more head and leg room than an e90 Bimmer I had, just not much for width. (y)

Now that actually is surprising. I've never been in a Mini, but I have driven one of those BMWs, which I remember it having plenty of room, but I'm only 5'3", or is it 3'5".

So, you're saying you prefer the Porsche, eh Chil?

🙂

I'm saying that I like the Cayman, which is related to the Cockster. If I was picking a Porsche, I think it's no secret here where my affections lie, sir...

If I was picking from the four in @Squatch's list....Mustang all day, every day and twice on Sundays. I don't necessarily think it was a woman-focused car, but it may well have been one of the first times women were targeted in marketing.

Cockster?

The Boxter never did much for me, but I do like the Cayman.

Me too. Unfortunately when I drove one the engine noise reverberates inside the greenhouse which wouldn't be so nice on long road trips. So I did the logical thing and bought one with the engine behind the cabin.

The Cayman handling is awesome and they're back down to a reasonable price. The 9A1 motors in the 987.2/997.2 line are pretty robust. Only expensive repair I've had to make was the high pressure fuel pump. I will say the rear engine models are easier to work on. A friend has a Boxster and I'll say it's alot easier to just remove the tail lights and bumper shell to access everything.

I've made use of the 911 in a way most would think is impossible. It's way more practical than you might guess. I've done a 2000 mile road trip with a bike on the roof. Regularly take it on multi-day ski trips with the ski box on the roof rack. I've put lumber on the roof rack and 3 ceiling fans inside. I've probably traveled a hundred of miles of graded dirt roads in it over the years. It's a great car. I don't really understand the people who own newer ones and never drive them. I bought this one at 9 years old and it had only 38k on it. Now it has 90K and I'll probably drive it til the wheels fall off. There's a guy with a turbo a few years older than mine with almost 800,000 miles now. He's rebuilt the manual transmission twice. Taken the motor out for service at like 350,000 miles and you could still see the crosshatching on the cylinders. The 9A1s aren't quite as robust, but it should easy do 250,000 miles if I ever drive that much.

The Cayman has the same roof rack mount points - though I don't think you can buy them new anymore. I've heard it is pretty good on snow with snow tires. And it has the advantage of the additional storage with easier access through the rear hatch. and the frunk is bigger than my 4S. You can fit one carry on suitcase and a breifcase in the AWD 911 frunks, and the 2WD ones add like 6" of additional depth. When I need to load up the luggage shelf for a bigger trip, you have to really reach back in there and the Cayman hatchback would be alot easier. I have back seats that Cayman doesn't, and I've had my neices and nephews ride along on 1-2 hour drives, but it's not good for an adult.
