Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Starlink kicks ass. That's what I use and I have had no problems working remote on it the last few years

I'd bought one back when I'd first bought the motorhome but had never set it up. Then while on the trip in Aug to MT I tried to use it but my dish was too old and wouldn't connect. They sent me a Gen III dish as a replacement. I'd been paying $107 for my high speed wireless which was spotty to say the least due to trees that would blow into the line of sight now and then. With residential service only being $13 more a month I just finally had had enough...

Have to wait and see how this works for me. I used the mount from the wireless receiver for now. If I have to I'll come up with something better. Way back when I had Hughes Net which is the other dish.

The app should show you how good it's view is shouldn't it? Mine actually got better signal on the edge of my deck vs. the roof surprisingly. Got on the dang roof for no reason 🙄

Pretty much all of the Starlink users on our mail route have theirs mounted down low so they can easily clear the snow off in the winter. One of the "part timers" accidently left his Starlink system with a Gen 2 dish turned on for a week while he was at home and when he got back to the cabin the tracking motor had burnt out because of snow build up. I guess the Gen 3s and the minis use different tech (phased array) so they don't require a tracking motor any more but it's still a good idea to keep snow build up to a minimum.

It says it’ll melt snow. Gen 3 consumes more power than the previous versions.

To a certain extent. It can and has snowed hard enough around here to overcome what heat they put out.

It's only snowed hard enough for it to be an issue maybe 3-4x for me in the 3ish years I've had it. I have the heater set to always on in winter, shut that down in the summer.

Nice to still get a snow day when you WFH anyways 😉

Yep it does and I've gotten it damn close. I'm not worried about the little bit I'm off right now. I wanted the router to be at the back of y house to give me signal in my garage & in the house too.

Not worried about it at home. The only time would be if I was on battery power... Like in the RV.

Mine's on Auto right now... I'll see how it does

I want to say they didn't have any problems until the temps started consistently getting down in the <20° range and snowing...
That's when they would switch from automatic to preheat when snow was expected. According to Starlink, on the auto setting the receiver doesn't start heating until it senses an obstruction, which isn't until there's about 2" or more on the receiver already.

Since this will be my first winter with it I'll watch and see what happens... Hell I was used to having to go out and brush off my Direct TV dish during the winter.

Went to wound care yesterday. They really couldn't tell me why it's taking so long for these sores to heal.
But they trimmed the edges around the larger spot. And now I've got to wear this covering until I go back next week.

Very limited use of my prosthetic per their directions.

Well the GOOD NEWS is that I think this is finally almost over with... Went to wound care yesterday and the sores on my leg are almost healed... I go back next Monday and I'm hopeful that they'll tell me I'm cleared to being able to wear my socket and resume normal activity. It's still tender around the area where the sores were.
