What did you do to your TJ today?

After 15 months since being removed for repairs and refinishing, Tessie's hardtop has finally been reinstalled as of last evening. Before doing the deed, took her for a little joyride topless...

I installed the rear glass in the dark last evening, the forecast was calling for rain early this morning....and they were correct. Might help in discovering any possible leaks. Plan now is for a new rear glass with tint/defrost grid and some new hinges to go with. Forgot how quiet it is driving with the hardtop on.

Not available currently. Something changed on my server and I haven't gotten around to doing anything about it, partly because I haven't had the time, but also because I'm actually working on a version 2. Trying to reduce print times and waste as well as adapt the design to work with earlier TJ's.

The hardtop looks great ! Good Job Chili !

After installing lower brackets under the driver's seat I needed to find a good place to mount the fire extinguisher since it no longer fit in front of the seat.
Barctact has a new mount that looked like a good design, and was reasonably priced so I gave it a try. Very simple design, super easy to remove the extinguisher by just pulling on the red tabs and it will hold anything from the 2.5 to the 5lb size.

This spot is always kind of a dead spot when packing the Jeep because of the tailgate connector, and it is very easy to get to even with the soft top on.
I like it.

Where did you get the "dead space" 3D-printed storage box? Me likee, likee.

Replaced the rear brakes with BMB parts. Went to adjust parking brakes and couldn’t move the nut on the equalizer. Picked one up at the auto parts store and installed it. Will have to finish tomorrow with break in, ran out of daylight and I’m hungry.
Only took this picture.

just looked on the BMB site quickly for a kit to convert the rear drums to discs - didn't see one, does it exist?

If you were me, what brands/products would you look into for options?
No idea, I don't have the wherewithal to purchase samples and evaluate them. I've looked, nothing strikes me as actually good. If they did, I would have tried to find the supplier so I've have a conversion to sell. Check with Tera. I don't like that they use 8.8 caliper, pads, and rotor, but the rest seemed to be good with the understanding I have not laid hands on one after covid.

Are you already locked and geared? If not probably be cheapest just to find a later model takeout and do an axle swap to one that has rear discs already.

I'm not, just getting a plan together for to find more stopping power - have a young man I want to teach to drive it and it just doesn't stop as good as I'd like it to. No problems with the drums, they are functioning fine and shoes have enough material. Thanks for the suggestion, that's a good idea - when you say later model are you referring to an 03-06 or like a Grand Cherokee?

Got new decals for the Jeeps.

I looked into this when I restored my TJ.

I can't remember what the exact options were, but my takeawy was that even with the most turn-key solution... The pleasure would not be worth the pain. So, new drums, springs, etc; called it a win.

You probably won’t see a noticeable difference by swapping out there rear to discs. But I mean later TJ’s. After a certain year they all came with discs I believe. ‘03 maybe?

You’d be better off putting a big brake kit on the front though. 80% of the braking comes from the front so it’s tough to gain much by working on the rear.
