Mechanic said block cracked. 4.0 remafactured from gearhead engine. Is this the block or water pump? And I would like suggestions to prove I didn’t overheat it. I am 100% certain I didn’t. (Mirror showing crank in photo)

Can't tell from those photos to be honest. I don't think you're going to be able to prove or disprove that you didn't overheat it.

I'll be honest it is hard to see from that pic where the crack is, but my first thought about a crack in that area would be someone getting too aggressive during a water pump install.

If it is a reman'd engine, they likely put a heat tab somewhere on the block, which would melt in the event of an overheat.

The block is iron, the water pump is aluminum. So if a magnet sticks to it and it's cracked, it's the blk. If it doesn't it's the water pump.

The head bolt requires sealant, but that appears to be the manifold bolt that intersects it.

Yeah I think you are right about that. But, isn’t that head bolt right there in that corner? I couldn’t remember if it was a head, water pump, or manifold bolt. But it is right about there.
