I'm a 16 y/o guy who just got a TJ as my first car and wanted to know if anyone had tips on what to do or expect if I plan on going off-roading soon. I don't know how a 3" lift and 33" tires will affect it since that was added with the previous owners, but I just wanted to know if that would change anything.

Knowledge, skill and experience is a lot more important than equipment. Learn the basics by reading and going out with others who have some experience. Carry a shovel and make sure your jack works good. Mark A. Smith traversed some of the most difficult places in the world with stock Jeeps. BTW many of us still learn things all the time out there, I know I do.

Agreed. This reminded me of a group ride where where someone was having difficulty while driving the spouse’s Jeep. Kept saying “this one doesn’t have front and rear lockers like mine”. I just thought to myself exactly what you said above since everyone else without F and R lockers was doing fine.

You missed the important one.

Next one, it’s likely one of your friends will burn themselves lighting (or jumping over) a pallet bonfire, don’t be that friend. BTW pallets are an easy way to make a bonfire.

Gator, You are a good uncle for someone!

@Noah 2x on wrap it and never trust "I'm on the pill". Gasoline syphoned from TJ is easy way to start said pallets on fire. My first vehicle was a CJ5, just because you can jump it does not mean you should jump it... broke all 4 shock plates at one point. Wash after use every time, helps avoid rust and STD's

The lift and bigger tires will give you more clearance and traction. Go have fun,, test things out, you’ll start to see how capable it is and learn to drive off-road. X2 with the cheerleader. Report back…about the cheerleader
