Ugh that sucks, I'm wondering if the engine that blew up on you is not the original engine and was swapped or modified to fit your Jeep from something else.

I wonder that too. as long as I can get it running again I'm not going to look too hard into it.

small update on the jeep engine swap.

the original engine has the spark pug cables in a different order than what the shop manual and the (new) older engine have. That is very strange to me but it was running so who knows!

second picture is from the older 2.5L engine that I just installed. I left it this way and the jeep fired right up with no issues.
every plug and sensor did not fit from the old engine into the newer jeep but all the locations and threads were the same so it was an easy swap.

update on the jeep.

I got it back on the road!! it's running well too. I'm planning on taking it in for smog once I get the ECU to do it's magic reset dance.
then I can take it apart to start working on the cosmetic side of things. Fenders, paint, interior, electrical.

Awesome, nice work! It's always a good feeling to get a big project done like that. Love the color of the Jeep!
