Hi all, need help

Searched and searched and can't find the right solution.

There was an aftermarket security system that wasn't hooked up to anything. I removed all the disconnected wires. Now the jeep won't start.

I can jump the starter relay and the engine will start but I need to find the real issue, pls help.

When you removed the aftermarket security system, it's possible that you disconnected something that affected the ignition circuit or fuel system.

Here are a few things you can check:
  • Make sure you didn’t accidentally cut any ignition-related wires while removing the security system. Look for any loose connections or cut wires that might have been part of the system but are needed for the ignition.
  • Double-check the starter relay and fuses related to the ignition and fuel system. Sometimes, they can blow when disconnecting other components.
  • Ensure that your battery is fully charged, and inspect the ground connections. A poor ground can lead to all sorts of starting issues.
  • If your Jeep still recognizes the presence of a security system, it might be preventing the vehicle from starting. If you have another ignition key, try using that.
  • Download a free copy of the FSM here and go through the wiring diagrams to troubleshoot.

Could be a starter kill /immobilizer relay. Some interrupt the starter circuit from the key to the starter.

Check the wiring diagram from the one you removed.

Typically for an aftermarket security system, there is a stock wire that is cut when installing the system. Then one side of the cut wire is connected to one of the wires on the security system and the other side of the cut wire is connected to a different wire on the security system. This functions as the starter interrupt when the alarm is triggered.

When you removed the security system, you might have 2 dead end wires that will need to be reconnected together like they were when the Jeep was stock.

You should be able to find these 2 wires by matching their color/stripe pattern (you might need to follow the wires to the point where they were spliced into the security system to find the matching color pattern.

If you find them and connect them you should be good to go.

I recently removed a cheapo aftermarket security system from a TJ with the same above pattern.

Thanks, I figured it out. I had the XCRS 500M ... It's some dumb system that integrates into a lot of stuff.... Once I realized how to remove it the jeep started fine....

My main issue was the yellow wire was cut and when I removed the system the yellow wire was so short it sucked into the main harness so I couldn't see it. I never knew it was cut until I retraced my steps. I reconnected the yellow wire and that fixed it.
