I bought a set of full doors for my 98 TJ. The doors are from a 1997 and are the wrong color so stripped one down for painting. I removed the seal that goes around it and noticed that it only has two plastic pins holding it to the door. The rest is held it by a channel that runs around the door. I can see where the channel has holes in it for pins but they all have plastic plugs in them. The seal I pulled off looks original and has part number 5517 6514-1-2RH AE on it. It doesn't have any holes where pins would be inserted. All of the pictures I see of new seals have the plastic pins all around the lower door section. Does anyone know what the deal is?

I could probably use the old seal but it does have one tear in it near the latch. I'd like to replace it but I'd like to understand why it seems different before doing anything.

Don't throw away the old seals. Chinese ones don't have a reputation for fitting well

That may be what I end up doing. My Jeep is much quieter with the full doors even with the old seals so I can probably live with it. I'll buy something from Amazon that I can easily return if it doesn't look good, though.
