I’m getting ready to replace my front lower control arms. While I was soaking everything in PB blaster I noticed there are no cam/ cam bolts, just regular old bolts and washers. I have a 2” lift with Dana 30 on my ‘04. Do I need to purchase the cam bolts?

I’ve read that some folks do the cam delete when adding adjustable control arms but I’m sticking with stock arms due to the minimal lift based on input from what I’ve I read. Do I actually need the adjustable control arms with a 2” lift? I don’t plan on going any higher.

You do if you want to make adjustments to the angle of the pinion and caster.

With 2" of lift you will lose caster angle which will negatively effect steering, mostly in return to center after making a turn. Misaligned differential pinions will cause vibrations and increased wear on u-joints.

Thank you. This is what I needed to understand. Will the cam bolt itself provide the amount of adjustment required with a 2” lift or do I need to look at adjustable arms?

😆 yes the cam bolts will provide the adequate needed camping range for a 2" lift. It was actually enough for my 4" lift.

They won't correct the rear pinion angle though.
