Let me not break it just yet....im not even 1k miles in just yet 😆 I'm taking it easy.
.....However I did leave a nice 50 foot 11 on the ground yesterday (I like following rules don't I)

I'll hit close to 500 miles today as I head to summit racing to get new fluid for trans. And going back home😁 I'll see if the new fluid quiets this thing down.....Atleast the crunching noise has stopped I think,I Just hear an annoying ringing sound ! Thinking of using some "Driven" Synchromesh see if it helps,Driven makes some good stuff from what I've experienced

My ax15 has 230k on it and had mud in it when I got it. They aren't too picky about fluid type!

Syncros are bit tired but holding up to the stroker so far
 
No turbo 4.8L stroker I6,I'm stubborn I love the sound of the jeep 4.0

A real street driven 450 whp from a stroked 4.0 is a lot to ask for. You'd need to be at or above 550 at the crank to get that, and that won't be cheap or easy, and probably not reliable for actual driving. But don't let me piss on your hopes and dreams. :LOL:

I was thinking 30% loss, so more like 650. It's doable with serious dedication, and it's always cool to do something different.

I'm not that dedicated to the 4.0. A turbo V8 makes more sense and would be plenty cool enough for me. Honestly, for a 650hp target I'd go with a turbo 2.4 4-banger before I went with the 4.0 6.

You've got an older Tj and just to be fair you could hit 500HP @ the crank on a stroker 5.9 and there are those that have gotten closer to 600HP before.

But you could slap a turbo on any of the V-8's and make 450HP at the wheels fairly easy. But I'd ask if you've ever driven a SWB vehicle with that type of HP?

You ain't wrong at all,650 Crank with a v8 is no problem....Admittedly its the smarter,cheaper move (that's also too damn common and boring as hell to me) But I want that 450 Whp on a AMC i6,I like oddball stuff.

Once i do get my "dream" stroker setup and I beat a camaro or whatever I want someone to be like "Is it V8 swapped?" Me: "hell nah,pop hood* It's still the same inline 6 it came with....with a turbo etc. 😎"
Yes I may be a bit delusional.....A teeny bit😂 but if people knock out 350 crank I don't see how I couldn't reach 550 crank? with a stroker 4.0...

There are times you've got to look at things realistically and understand that you'll be doing a LOT to just get that HP out of the 4.0.....
Can it be done? Sure but at what cost? And while you might like your AX15 it's rated for 300HP.... So I wonder if you start making over 400HP what your transmission is going to think of you?

And why waste the time& money to build this dream stroker if you're gunna end up having to yank it anyhow?

If your serious about different and big horsepower , figure out how to stretch the front clip install a huge front axle and use a 12V71T . :cool:

Ive met a older gentleman in a MK3 supra and he essentially has a AX15 (R154) 2WD Of course. But what i was surprised is that he has a billet gearset in it ! Speedtek racing is the gearset he runs and hes pushing alot more HP than i'll ever see out of my jeep lol. Another guy with a TJ named Oliver on tiktok and he's running a AX15 with a bllet gearset with a OM606!
My next LJ will have a 6r80 though.
