howdy all,
recently joined the club and bought my first TJ:
1997 Sport
4.0L + 5spd manual
1 previous owner — bought it brand new with 5 miles on it.
96k miles (!!)
i didn't know much about jeeps coming in but even i knew this was a unicorn.
PO said it's been mostly sitting for the last ~9 years (est 3k miles in that timeframe) and completely sitting for the last 2, so there's plenty of maintenance to be done, but i was looking for a bit of a project anyway.

part one — make 'er safe
i figured the first stage of this project should be to make it safe to drive — for me and the car.
so far, she's had:
oil change — PO was nice/smart enough to do before allowing test drives.
spark plugs (pic 1)
diff fluids (pics 2&3) — with no snapped bolts to speak of and frankly i'm offended you'd even ask
wiper blades
so much cleaning
and last but very not least: new socks & shoes (pic 4)
next up, in no particular order:
coolant flush — PO said it got a new radiator just before he stopped driving it, so hopeful a flush will keep everything nice and cool
transfer case fluids
transmission fluids
power steering fluids
brake fluids (are you noticing a trend)
tie rod ends
ball joints
