What did you do to your TJ today?

I'm not fan of Chicago. Unfortunately I fly into there several times a year for work. We have an office about an hour from ORD.

I had to fly in one time, and that was enough for this country boy!

I thought Indianapolis was bad when we lived in Belle Union in 79-80!!!

I have gotten to where I even hate Chattanooga!!!!

Give me 40 acres and a mule and I promise I can survive!!!!!

The bearings in my compressor clutch are bad. I've been trying to remove the clutch for 3 days now, with no luck. Got the fan off, belt off, and removed the bolt on the front of the clutch, but the clutch won't come off. I've gone so far as to drive screwdrivers into it to try to pry it off, but no luck. How did you get yours off?

Hmm, the clutch should come off after you remove the bolt. I had no problems with it.

The pulley on the other hand has a circlip on it. You'll need some decent snap ring pliers to get it off.

Got the new 120 degree thermostat in. Works like a charm. I guess at least it’s not overheating. lol

Made new bump stop towers because one of mine disintegrated and was dangling loose inside the spring, and the other had rusty holes. Never welded before, but they don't look too bad cleaned up with a grinder. That said, does anyone happen to know the exact length of them? I have it written down as "12cm from the flared bit" but they seem too long? '97 Wrangler.

Decided it was time to put my big boy pants on this weekend and proceeded to turn Tessie's tub into a large boxy colander by drilling 12 very necessary holes to mount Rubi rockers purchased from @Danarch (thanks again!) a month or so ago. Funny, I'd have no issues drilling into someone else's vehicle, but Tessie... 😯

The nutsert/rivnut tool recommended by @mrblaine worked slicker than snot on a new door knob for setting both the half hex and round M6 inserts needed to bolt the things on. I wholeheartedly second his recommendation, having used it to set 22 inserts flawlessly. Seems to be a durable, compact tool that gives very precise control of setting if used with a 1/4" ratchet instead of a power drill (as per blaine's instructions). Well worth the money spent...hell, I'd say it just paid itself off with that performance.

The hardware fortunately came with the rockers and was in pretty good shape, though I'm looking to source some new washers for the torx screws if I can manage. I plan on pulling them back off for refinishing at some point but that's gravy. Speaking of refinishing, some asshole should probably paint that door as well while they're at it... 😀

A close-up of the hardware used on the sides would help. It doesn't look like what I've seen used before. Stock is typically a washer head Torx on the sides and SEMS screws underneath. SEMS is typically considered to be a body bolt or indented hex head captive washer.

The sides are M6 Torx (T-30) with what I'd call a pan head and separate washers. I got 12 of these with 10 washers.

Correct, 10mm I believe. 8 of the 10 are anyway, along with two properly sized hex head caps with separate washers as replacements.

I think the gauge should read 100. Keep trying. ;)
p.s. I know YOU know better. Sarcasm is a lost art form. Keep it going brother!
p.s. My AC works best in the winter months. Coincidence? I think not. 🥶

Now ya tell me lol AC? I’ve never heard of it. Oh you mean taking the windows out lol I guess I’ve got a bad thermostat. I changed out the coolant temperature sensor and it was the same. I might dig the old one out of storage since this new one hasn’t lasted two years lol I figured I’d change it out when I rebuilt my engine a couple years back, now I’m regretting that decision with a “high quality” new thermostat lol

I've kept a few partial sets of OEM hardware from removing the factory stuff to install sliders. I'm 99% certain they are the same 6mm thread as the sides unless you meant the hex was 10mm. I'm 99.9% certain those side fasteners are NOT what came on them from the factory. I'll know more after I dig them out.

Correct. M6 thread. 10mm wrench.

Appreciate you looking. I'd be keen to see what they're supposed to look like....even keener if you manage to find a full set in solid shape. 💲

Here’s the original on mine. They’ll be coming off soon, my new rock sliders show up tomorrow. If Blaine doesn’t hook you up I can send you these. Might be a couple weeks before I get to it though.
