I've had my 2023 Ram 1500 since April of 2024. Just passed 10K miles. It's been to the dealer twice for relatively minor issues (turn signal switch replacement and battery replacement).

I was driving it yesterday, and got a check engine with 'Cylinder 3 misfire'. So back to the dealer. Last dealer had it for 8 days to replace the battery. So switching to a different dealer, hopefully better turn around time. Though this one doesn't look like a quick one.

Fun thread idea.

Mine went from "tire needs air every couple of weeks" to

Overnight.

So I get to patch this instead of working on the race cor.

Of course being an 03 it's probably gonna be more reliable than any of these new fangled cars you guys have to complain about

No complaints about my '17 Tacoma TRD Off Road . . . other than the complete lack of power . . . and lousy gas mileage . . . and awful radio . . . and . . .

Wife and I were complaining about cars last night.

My 2011 F150 - Bought it used at about 55K, had to have the engine swapped at 60K. Then just became the 'cursed' truck until I traded it in.
Her 2019 Expedition - Had cam phasers fail at around 50K. Luckily was covered under warranty. Then the trans failed at 62K and was not under warranty.

Her 2009 Highlander never had a single problem. Same with her 2013 Prius. I was half joking saying I was going to sell my Ram and get a 5-10yo 4Runner.

No problems with mine but a coworker just got a new engine last week in his 2025 Equinox with about 7k miles.

And it’s back at the dealer for new issues this week.

That's pretty early for an engine fail. They should just give you credit towards a new vehicle if that happens the first year.

I like my daily. But 6 pot Brembos are a bit spendy to maintain. It fits me (I'm 6'7"), has room for the whole fam and can fit 4 bodies in the trunk. It also gets OKish milage if I dive like a sensible human and has enough power to get 5mpg if I drive like an idiot.
You should drive something you like if you can swing it. I spend too much time in my DD to drive something I hate.

My '12 F150 (160k miles)
  • sync program (bluetooth) is garbage. It always cuts out and needs booted.
  • Oxford white paint is flaking off everywhere. (fenders, hood, roof, bed)
    • It has a bad rust spot on rear wheel well that I've tried repairing multiple times (sanding, priming, painting, clear). Third attempt I put bed liner on it and its bubbling again. Far as I can tell, the rust is forming in the seam between the bed and the inner wheel well.
  • Wicked oil pan leak. To fix it, I have to drop the entire front axle.
Wife's '15 Cherokee (120k miles)
  • Timing cover leak (not bad)

Their first mistake was buying an Equinox. Those things are known for lots of trouble.

That is what I heard about them as well, but my niece had one that got totaled in an accident, and she liked it so much she got another one.

It’s a lease. I don’t think he’ll get another. He has two leased equinox’s now and cycles them out every two years.

My other coworker has a ‘24 3500 duramax. Had to go back to the dealer the week after he bought it because the bow tie fell off out of the grill. He’s been back several times for various things.

His loaner is through a rental place and they asked what was getting repaired, he said equinox and all three of the workers said they understood.

My sister got a new 05 , I think I pissed her off when I told her it had a Chi Com 2.8 V-6 . Thanks GM . I guess the only good thing was , it didn't have a wonderful CVT instead of a actual transmission !

The 4Runners are cool but after driving one I could never pay that much for a vehicle with an early 2000s grade interior that somehow drives worse than an old Jeep. I was actually so surprised with how bad it drove I figured the one I tested was broken and drove a different one. They were both the TRD, which might have to do with how terrible it rode/drove.

Sadly newer Toyotas are not immune to issues like they once were. Better than most for sure, but my buddy's 2008 Tacoma was far from perfect and actually way less reliable than his 4.0L ZJ was.
