I’m trying to gauge interest in anyone buying a parted out LS swapped TJ. I will be going to look at a local to me LS project that was never finished. The person apparently did the entire swap started it up and threw a rod during break in. LS swaps are not my jam but I’m willing to get it tore down and the parts out to people that are looking to save some money. Minus the engine and trans everything else is brand new.

Some of the parts include,
4.8L Standalone harness w/ 02 chevy computer
6l80E transmission
PSI TCM-2650 GM 6L50E 6L80E 6L90E Transmission Controller W/Harness
Dakota Digital gauge cluster(HDX-96J-TJ-K) W/ OBD interface
Novak Gm injector kit for Tj fuel tank
Mishimoto Aluminum radiator MMRAD-WRAV8-87X
Wide open design Trans shifter

Apparently there are a bunch more parts laying around too I guess I'll find out when I get there to look at it. For those of you that have done this swap is there anything else I should be on the look out for when I go check it out?

Transfer case or adapter?

Axles or note axle ratio.

Fuel tank, fuel lines, pressure regulator.

-Mac

Transfer is an Atlas 2 spd I don't know the ratio, beside turning the flange is there another way to tell the ratio on the case somewhere?
Axles are from an 03 Rubicon 4:10's
fuel related stuff, Novak fuel pressure regulator?

Not to nit pick but if you're trying to sell things you need to make sure you're properly listing it.

Wide open design Trans shifter

WOD doesn't make the shifter, they sell it. It's made by Art Carr & it's a Winters Shifter. WOD does offer a shifter knob that they have made for these shifters.

Nit pick all you want. I know nothing about LS swaps that’s why I’m asking advice about it. I am going to look at the Jeep later this week. I literally copy pasted from the listing that why I’m asking for help about what to keep an eye out for. Thanks for the heads up.

I know next to nothing about a LS swap either other than I'm not a fan.... But I guess if you can pick it up for a good price... I did that last summer with a Hemi swapped TJ.

That was pretty much the plan. I’m not a fan of the LS in an TJ either. The only thing I’m really after that excited me I knew I could get rid of was the Rubicon axles and the Atlas.
The those controllers and the digital dash are pretty pricy though. I’m sure someone is looking for that stuff.

That dash is nice... Not $1500 nice but for the right price I could see using one.

@Wildman when I was going through and looking at the price of some of the stuff I don’t even know if it’s a cost effective alternative to just putting a stroker in and calling it a day. I guess if you need gobs of power but never for what I’d do with mine.

Some of us just go down the rabbit hole and keep going...

I did a V-8 swap in 2006.... But I had a 4 cyl too...Then mine went from being mostly stock to a lot more. Now I've got a Hemi in mine & 38" tires. But it's loads of fun and if I didn't have it to spend my money on then what?

Until you've driven a V-8 TJ... They are fun.

Hot rod, convertible and 4x4 all in one!

I love going throttle down in my brothers 5.2l tj. It's a whole different experience.

Yep, on paper the 5.2 doesn't make much more power than a 4.0 and you've got a stroker so it's even more power.

But the V-8 just response is just different. And then hop one up a little and it's a whole other ball game.

The trailer launches are insane!

The look on your face.

Trust me I get it. It would be hella fun. I have a pretty heavy stroker build specked out at the moment for a winter project but the voice in the back of my head stills says a V8 powered LJ would be sick too.

As the old saying goes" There's no Replacement for Displacement ". And while a 4.6 or 4.7 stroker build will make good power it's still not a V-8. But if you live somewhere that has strict emission laws or hassles you if you have a swap doing a stroker is easier.

I had a stroker but never really got to enjoy it... Plus it was a stroker 5.9 Magnum V-8 which made it a 6.7 (408 CI) but the block cracked on it due to a fuck up by the machine shop. It's how I ended up with the Hemi instead.

As you said earlier if you don't have a reason/need for the V-8 then you need to really ask yourself WHY? Don't get me wrong I love my V-8 but it's also a HUGE PITA.... I'm still trying to work through all the issues.

You may as well get a BMW for all the money and problems
