Suspension for highway driving

Mr. Currie said there will be springs to work with a few different vehicle weights to provide 4" of lift height. He also said we know it depends on weight, that's why we are doing more than one rate.

I can imagine, and still there would be a % of questioning and unhappy Jeep builders, "it's not this or that"....but that's just a guess.

If they are unhappy, then it is purely due to ignorance. Them that aren't ignorant, understand as I do, that no spring can deliver a ride height it wasn't designed for and there is no way to design 1 4" spring for the back of a TJ. It can't even be done in stock form or have you ignored all the posts over the years about how many different springs were under the TJ from the factory?

I'm looking to upgrade my suspension to improve highway driving. I'm currently running a 3.25-inch RC lift kit that was on my jeep when I first bought it, but it handles really firm. I'm looking at the ranchos rs5000x 2-3" lift shocks, but can't find a set of springs to go with them. Which springs should I pair the ranchos with, and should I replace any other bushings/rubbers on the suspension?View attachment 633048^picture from when it last snowed in Georgia

You should setup your ride height with springs and spacers and then get appropriate length shocks.

…epistemological…

good word!

Stop making me Google words I will never use in life. ;) The F word works for multiple conversations in my world.

Epistemology is an important branch of philosophy and everyone is employing it whether they know the word or not, but it is undergirded by metaphysics and ontology.

Ethics and politics are above epistemology.

5. Politics (many blood-sucking individuals; surface discussions but tense because of the real issues underneath in 1-3, where people just throw rocks at each other)
4. Ethics (what is right and wrong; sub-surface discussions that influence politics; lots of rock throwing here too)
3. Epistemology (the study of how we know what we know is true; sub-sub surface discussions that influence ethics and politics; mostly people going, “huh?”)
2. Ontology (the study of being and existence; sub-sub-sub-sub. Need I say it again below?)
1. Metaphysics (the study of ultimate reality, what is the nature of reality)

Most people spend their time discussing 5 and sometimes 4. Of course, they cross paths, but the real issues are down in 1, 2, and 3. Everyone has thoughts about 1, 2, and 3, but they are not often discussed. They are controlling everything else though. This post is somebody’s else’s fault for saying epistemology (ethics).

Well we have veered off course, haven't we?

Good post. I'm tempted to respond at length to 1 through 5. But I won't.... You're welcome.

Re no. 5 alone; question: What do you think of the idea that there is no reality, only perception?
Extra credit if you can bring the answer back to TJ spring rates.

After thinking through the thread I agree with the reality of Mr Genius.

There is no shame in admitting you don't know (if a spring is sagging or not).

Soooo...
If you doubt your spring rate, it must not be sagging?

No one is doubting the existence of a spring rate. It is an observable, measurable phenomena that can be described. The doubt may lie with the accuracy in how a spring's rate is currently understood. In which case more study, research, and testing must be conducted in order to refine the understanding.
