4.8 Swap LJ

I don't know if it will help but here's a video I saved on the topic

Actually now that you say it I think this is in my “links” tab on my LS swap excel sheet. Probably look into that again here soon.

Fairly confident I know the parts I need, just not how it works exactly. Not the first time (or the fiftieth).

I'd "HOPED" on doing my A/C this summer but with everything else going on I'm guessing it's going to get put off until next year.

Grabbed some JL takeoffs, maybe not exactly what I wanted but these should do what I need.

Track bar was way more of a pain than I had hoped, but that’s done.

Hopefully exhaust is done tomorrow. I need to try hooking up the camper too.

Exhaust is routed and tack welded. Will daily it a day or two then finish weld.

Edit: very weird going from a “muscle car” muffler to a OEM Ram 2500 replacement, seems like a completely different vehicle.

The light is @ the end of the tunnel....

I enjoy my rumpy sounds too but spending all day on a trail with a rumpy sound just isn't what I want.

I really hope so, haha. The ticking noise at hot idle has me kind of concerned, the rest of the build seems really good. This week I’ll change oil and cut filter open, plus pull the valve cover and make sure I didn’t somehow miss torquing a rocker (I couldn’t be so lucky). It’s not awful, it may be “acceptable” but it’s concerning.

I wish mine was running right now... Waiting for parts just SUCKS.... Hopefully once I install this new hydroboost I can get some miles on mine too.

Unknown noises are always concerning. I hope it's something easy also.

Absolutely. I somehow seemed to get irrationally lucky on this build with getting parts (or I was just so good-yeah right). A couple stupid things got delayed but didn’t hold up the build.

Hope yours gets ironed out as quickly as it can.

Things are coming along pretty well…

With this I am strongly considering taking the 4Runner…. I have quite a bit of work, which I think I can complete, however the lack of proven mileage has me concerned.

Biggest thing to complete is AC, compressor is in, hoses come in tomorrow. Just need to figure out wiring and charge it.

Tow/haul is about an hour away from being done, all gauges are working, need to throw front driveshaft in and that’s basically the extent of whats left.

19 days away.

I'm with you on the whole not enough time under your belt with it....
But wasn't the point of this to use the Jeep for the trip?

What's got you worried? Or just that it's a new build and not enough time in the seat yet?

Lack of miles on it, it’s not yet proven. It’s honestly really good so far, but i definitely have a lifter noise and there is a clunk sometimes 2nd-3rd (it’s probably in the tuning).

Yes whole point was for this trip, but I’ve wanted to do this for years and only way it would get done is to set a ridiculous deadline.

I’m still not saying it’s not going to

Skip the AC!!!

I would, but the wife a 1 year old won’t be for that.

I totally get it.... Every noise I hear right now on mine just makes me worry it's going to break... So I do understand.

Are you making your own lines for the A/C?

Never own a car with out A/C.

Not all of us live somewhere that it's required.... My TJ had A/C when I had the 4 popper but when I did the Magnum swap it wasn't hooked back up. I'd planned to just never did.

Now with the Hemi I'm planning on hooking it up again. But I bought the tools to make my own lines. Red Rock 4WD sells a hose kit but it's almost $700.

A/c cardinally increases the resale value as well as the number of buyers.

Again not everyone lives somewhere where that it's needed. I used to dislike A/C and would buy a car that didn't have it over one that did.

Isn't it amazing that we used to survive without such things?
