What did you do to your TJ today?

I drove mine to look at a 2008 JKU and made the deal on it.
That one belongs to @tr21triton I'm pretty positive....

@tr21triton just texted me and said he is naming this the Stink-A-Nator. I reckon because it's Pink? ....... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

And so the truth comes out as to who this thing belongs to huh John ? Remember what your fellow Democrats say, ALWAYS ACCUSE THE OTHER SIDE OF DOING WHAT YOU'RE ALREADY DOING !!!!

Changed the transmission fluid.
Magnetic drain plug was well covered in transmission shavings.

Kid did most of the work, I supervised.
Took 1.25 quarts out put almost 2 quarts back. Noticeably smoother shifting after change.

Thought about drinking a Bud Light afterwards but went with Red Stripe instead.

Crawled around on the dirt for a while on a nice hot day and then put it in 4hi for the first time to make it home.
I think there's something wrong where driving a few minutes in 4hi may have partially disengaged and sounded like the gears were slipping, until I went back to 2 and then into 4 again. Not sure what that's about

Replaced my shocks.

Any time I have the wheels off, I check the torque on my spacers.

I had my wife come out to step on the brake pedal for me to check the torque on the fronts.

She says "The brake pedal is the middle one, right?"

I needed the good laugh. 😁

At a weekly car guy get together I go to, a guy was bleeding brakes on a 66 mustang, and had his daughter in the seat to press the pedal. I think she was around 13-14. After a couple tries and getting nothing from the bleeder, I noticed the clutch linkage moving when she mashed the pedal. :D

DAMN! You outed @John Cooper as a Dem. It's a sad day in America.
p.s. On a positive note, Iran received some nice presents from the President. 🇺🇸

More of a "do with" not "do to", but does lead to an LJ project. I drove Tessie to pick up some needed fasteners at the local hardware so I could finish up a project started about three months ago...

After being stripped of the "rat fur" covering I applied almost 20 years ago when I first built the cab, I leveled the plywood (necessary as a lower grade of plywood was used under the rat fur, it hides more), swapped the flush mount handles for semi-recessed, swapped the feet for casters and re-covered the whole shebang-a-bang-a in some fresh tolex.

Thanks. I was worried pulling the rat fur off would destroy the plywood and I'd have to rebuild the whole cab....I got lucky on that one. Considering I was doing a bit of battle with the adhesive, I think it turned out really well. Looks better than before and will be much easier to clean now.

Fought with Gerry’s doors. I won but all the hinge bushings and two of the pins are done for. End of a couple week effort to get them off. Passenger side came off ok, driver side was racked a little and that misalignment boogered everything up.

Enlisted Kroil, bottle jack, 3 pound hammer, Dremmel, drift, air chisel and drill press in the effort. New delrin bushings and steel pins coming tomorrow.

One of the trashed bushings

We also pulled the passenger seat to replace the seat belt buckle. Kid driving around topless and doorless today.

Getting used motor prepped to go in. pulled intake/exhaust manifolds, replaced all of the core plugs. gotta clean the crap outta the intake and put it back on. got all new injectors as about half of mine were split. got a new water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys. Also opened up the block drain while I was here. My old motor has the fuel rail with the schrader valve and the dampener, so I'm going to pull that and use it on this one. It's getting there. Hopefully I get this sucker back in the jeep next week.

Just got back from a weekend trip in the tick infested wilds of North GA.

Put the rack and tent on the TJ for the first time in over a year. Drove out to Earl's Ford only to find out that we can no longer drive into the campsites. Crossed the road to get a spot at Sarah's Creek Campground only to find out that they require reservations now. All of the sites were reserved, but most of them were empty. Ended up driving to another favorite spot. Had a lot of fun and ate some good food.

It is great to get away from email and news. It is great to take your dog on a long hike off leash. It is great to laugh with friends over a fire.

Got new tires recently. Dextero 235R75-15s. They ride great. They are quiet and have been very good in the rain. The Dirthead Shed guy reviewed them offroad and had good things to say. $72 a tire on sale at Walmart. Sort of crazy cheap. Tire is from a company in Singapore. But they have a factory in the U.S. These tires are made in the U.S. With mounting all in under $400. I also think it is a good looking tire. Warranty of 50K, which means they probably last about 30K. But I only drive the TJ for fun so these tires will age out before they wear out.

Two tasks today

1. New power steering hoses and reservoir, flushed and inspected the pump, and inspected the new gear box that I put on the other day, as I had metal bits in the old one. It's more detailed in my other thread on it. Anyways, the steering is back to good.

2. Replaced the original front track bar, as it's ball joint was toasted. The muthafudgin' Torx bolt, I had to cut it TWICE with an angle grinder to get it out. Replaced it with a normal hex bolt and nut.

My steering is no longer sloppy, as in the last few weeks I replaced all 4 shocks, all the body mounts, put on a ZJ heavy duty steering system with a new stabilizer, new u joints at the wheels, new hub and bearing assemblies up front, new steering gear box, hoses, reservoir, and pump pulley, and a new track bar.

Next thing on the "To-Do List" is the rear track bar. Then probably the springs, insulators, stops and receivers.

Fun times!!! 😁

Here's what the TJ did to me today...

Pretty deep cut, probably needed a bunch of stitches, but I had stuff to do. Currently fixed with a gauze bandage and some duct tape, in true meathead fashion.

I love the ducktape part!! I have done the same thing a time or 4.
