What did you do to your TJ today?

When I bought my TJ it had a stored P0133 code so I figured I had a dying O2 sensor (bank 1 upstream sensor circuit slow). Also got the occasional P2096 code. Decided to change the sensor today. Also discovered some loose cat pipe to manifold bolts. I changed the sensor and tightened the bolts.
Then I had some time so I made it pretty.

It goes in Monday for new tires. The spare is original (21 years) so I don't trust it.

Got Little Guy ready to go to Hollerwood on Thursday morning for the Jeep Jamboree. I checked everything over and found a rear hard to soft brake line clip missing, so I replaced it. I was kind of shocked O'Reilly had the clips in stock. I'll be gone Sunday to late Wednesday night and tomorrow we are going to Heaps of Jeeps in Vincennes for a family day in the JK.

Time to get to work and get some of the flash rust off, prime it,paint it,Regear it,install it all&enjoy 😁!
Gonna do Seymour 316l which is somewhat a shade like my Jeep gladiator (on the screen...) its a "Stainless steel" color And Maybe fine textured black on the cover

It might be time to work on that rust before it gets worse.
Yup.

Gerty has the rust cancer and it's terminal in her frame. She's been someone's daily driver for 19 years in the heart of the rust belt. We're gearing up to start addressing the body to try and salvage the tub before it gets too far gone.

If she makes it through the next couple of years with the teen boy driving her, my long term plan (fantasy?) involves a frame swap and resurrecting her for a second life as a retardedly expensive offroad toy. A lot depends on whether or not the kid gets bored with this.

Its a fun ride right now though and my son is in love with his TJ. I don't think I've bought anything for my wife or my kids in the past 20 years that has been as well received as Gerty. The Benelli M2s were up there, but not like this Jeep.

Being recently purchased and myself being a Jeep newbie, I sought out a trustworthy mechanic here in town to give it a good work over. The shop came with very high recommendations from a close and trusted friend.

I had the following done to it:
  • rear main seal replaced (was leaking like a sieve)
  • motor mounts replaced
  • throttle body serviced and cleaned
  • all wiring checked, some replaced where insulation had dryrotted.
Parts and labor came to right at $475usd. With this and the new tires, I feel ready to hit the trails up in the big mountains!
