Piss & Moan Table

I was just discussing this subject (customer service regarding package delivery) with my wife this morning. Although I live in a very rural area, most of our deliveries route out of Austin. That general area is always noted as in the top five biggest growth areas in the country. My belief is that the problem is due to the compounding of so many new addresses every month from the growth, combined with COVID and Amazon's business model causing so many more deliveries per address.

It used to be that the delivery companies had relatively stable routes with the same driver every day to every address. They can't do that any more, so there's no way to teach your driver your delivery preferences - too many individual drivers coming to your address. In addition, they no longer knock or ring a delivery, so you can't intercept them to talk to them unless you notice their presence, even if you didn't have to deal with so many drivers.

Most problems in life have some element of poor-communication driving them. I submit that that is what's driving our constant disappointment in delivery performance these days. :(

I'd used to know my UPS & FedEx driver well. They had my phone # so during the winter I'd pickup and deliver packages down my road for them. Plus if they got stuck they'd call for a tow.

Not anymore....
And with half my Amazon orders coming USPS now I never know who's going to deliver them.

They can't win no matter what they do 🤣

The Mrs put a poly deck box out by the front door for packages.

So then most packages would be sitting on top of it, weather be damned.

She’s now labeled it:
“Please place packages inside”. That seems to have helped if they go to the door.

I ordered some tires for the pickup truck on May 24 (Saturday) I got FedEx tracking on the 26 Monday with a “Label created” status that never changed all week. Tires arrived Monday.

We have a detached garage that you walk past to get to the house. The 4 tires were left right in front of the house door. The Mrs had an Amazon pkg that was left in front of the garage. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Typical FedEx.

Not uncommon for FedEx to have label created and sit for a week. The shipper create the label right away but doesn’t ship for days.
This just happened locally a few days ago. Lots of packages not being delivered.

Common sense has left the chat!! Most of our packages have some kind of rip or hole in the packages.

My UPS driver usually leaves the package by the garage door (side facing garage) rain or shine. 10 more feet and you would at my covered porch.

I get delivery drivers that leave the damn packages on the top step, blocking the screen door from opening. I either have to push open the door, thereby knocking the package down the stairs, or go out the back door and come around front to retrieve the package. Mind you, there's plenty of room on either side of the stairs, but nooooo...

How can we have the same delivery person when we live on opposite ends of the country? :ROFLMAO:

Well, if you all thought it was bad before, hold on to your giblets. Fed-Ex is going to start delivering Amazon again and USPS is starting to faulter in the wake of their idiotic backdoor deal thy made with Amazon for a flat rate price per package regardless of package size.

Fed-Ex has also upped their weight limit on normal ground shipping so all the CSPs (contracted service providers) Fed-Ex uses are starting to drop like flies, because they are not getting paid any more than before. And before anyone askes yes those CSPs drive vehicles with Fed-Ex logos. The only fully corporate delivery Fed-Ex has is their Express. Most of their ground shipments are done by contractors..

Those kinds of accidents are a nightmare from a hazmat perspective. We have no way of knowing what kind of fumes are coming out since there aren't any placards.
I see two of those geniuses have an air tank but I don't see any masks being worn. That's just stupid. Even plain old burning plastic gives off hydrogen cyanide.

I used to order a lot online when I had my bee business in North Dakota because it was 30miles to the closest town and 90 miles to a city. It was not unusual to get 2-3 different FedEx deliveries by different drivers in one day.
Most FedEx trucks even the semis trucks are third party contractors not FedEx employees. Same with Amazon drivers. They are non-union unlike UPS drivers. UPS drivers make very good money but they work their asses off.

Went to order a 60k modine propane heater from farmtek today as they were the only ones advertising in stock rather than 3-4 week drop ship times from modine.

I need the same model number the customer currently has or the same dimensions as it is limited space.trouble is that farmtek has an item number not the actual model numbers, so I call them.

After waiting 5 minutes for a human I get interrupted mid sentence while explaining what I need by a hostile lady demanding to know if I need tech support or to place an order. I get transfered to another lady that doesn't know anything and can't tell me what I'd be buying for over 1000$ 🤣

What the hell is wrong with companies these days?

Just yesterday I went in circles with a heat pump brand trying to get tech support.they finally admitted they have no such thing 🤔

At work the Radiophamacy I use to get my doses for the Nuc Med exams had a "technical issue" that caused their sterile room to no longer be sterile. I have had two days with no patients (about $60k in loss revenue so far). They are not sure if they are going to be up for Monday. Have multiple doctors calling about STAT exams they want done. Of course they are asking why can't we just get doses from the regular pharmacy (because they don't have radioactive pharmaceuticals there SIR) Or why can we just get doses from someone else. Because that requires contracts which I have no control of SIR.

Had one doc tell me I should drive to an other hospital that has contracts with other radiopharmacies and bring doses back. Which is against the law due to DOT regulations about transporting nuclear by products. His reply was SO what. Because I could lose my license sir. Both my professional license and driver's license not to mentioned fined by the DOT.

Going to bite someone before the day is through

I remember about 20+ yrs ago the Canadian lab that made all the precursor isotopes shut down and there was a scramble to replace them.
Most Drs don’t know shit about radiation safety. Many just take a weekend course to get their Radiation Supervisor license and really don’t have a clue of what’s really involved. Techs are the patients first line of defense and sometimes we as Techs have to stand up to them.
More than once in my career as a Radiological Tech I’ve had to tell a surgeon to get his foot off the Fluoroscope pedal because they were over radiating their patient. In California we are protected from any repercussions when we report unsafe use of medical radiation abuse.
Stand your ground and protect your hard earned credentials.

Yup. I am really lucky my Radiologists are really chill he is also my Radiation Safety Officer. When I took over he basically told me its your baby you be paranoid and I will sign off on everything. I have no patience for Docs that won't listen to their technical experts. I treat them like 2nd LTs ;-)

Yep there’s a reason you keep those syringes in the lead lunch pail while going up to the floor to inject the isotopes. Some nasty stuff. When I was a Radiation Therapist we had a 100+ lb lead pig that I used to move the radioactive seeds around the hospital that we used for implants. Lots of paperwork with moving and using those things.
When I was a working Tech and needed some reading material I always went to Nuc Med. Because of how long it took for the isotopes to migrate and the length of the scans afterward they always had good reading material around to pass the time.

Fuck FedEx. I hated them before last Friday but...

They updated tracking on an Amazon package as "Undeliverable" because the business was closed.

Its a residential address fucksticks 🤭

I can’t understand why the delivery person doesn’t ring the doorbell when a package is left on the porch. I mean when it’s 110 degrees outside some packages need to be brought in ASAP. But apparently ringing the doorbell to alert me of the delivery is no longer standard protocol.

Luckily, most of the time the dogs let me know.
