Time for new drums on the back. Anyone running a particular make? More importantly because they’re just drums - any make I should avoid? Cheers.

We had to quit selling the Centric versions due to them being out of round. Good luck and let us know if you find round ones so I can tell them who ask what to buy.

How did you check them for being round?

Same way we do straps on vehicles...say the magic words "that ain't going nowhere."

I have a mismatched set...they almost have 3/4 lbs of weight difference between the two drums... they're in spec but I know better than to check if they're round.

Got enough stuff keeping me awake at night...

Need to get a lathe and just make my own...

We've checked several by just laying them on top of each other. They don't line up at all. If you get a lathe, don't make the mistake that causes the problem we have now that can't be readily fixed. They are grabbing them with a 3 jaw chuck. The clamp pressure is too high so it distorts the drum. They machine it round and then when they release the jaws, what they get is a large rounded corner triangle that isn't round. Don't do that.

I'll be honest, I didn't know I needed to. This was the first set of drums I've ever installed. How would an out of round drum act while driving or braking, bad vibration?
Anything from some noise, to practically not able to be noticed, to a pulsation in the pedal. Mainly the easiest way is to install them with some nuts to clamp them tight and idle it in gear. See if they wobble.

I bought (2) AC Delcos from Warrior Woman. One of them is obviously not the same as the other. Installed them. Have noted no ill effects.

I had out of round drums on a Fifth-wheel trailer one time. Guy at the machine shop didn't believe me at first, but changed his tune after checking them. You could feel the pulsing from them, which was gone after they were machined. Weirdest thing...

Belly dancer friend of yours? ;)

They do sell Belly Dance stuff too. Its amazing actually, When I started dancing, finding "stuff" was very difficult, you mostly had to buy it at one of the festivals or from the small cache your teacher would have. There were few online options (Y2K), and regardless of where you got "it", it wasn't cheap. Hell, my first silk veil was $40, and my first "BAGS" (Big Ass Gypsy Skirt) was $90! Now you can buy a better skirt on "Warrior Woman" for $40 - sometimes less. Silk veils are anywhere from $8 on up. Of course, there is a lot of crap as well.
