Hello

Another dumb question - my Jeep doesn't have A/C - I want to figure out how to keep it cool in the cabin when it's 80⁰ outside, without rolling any windows down when I'm going 70+ mph on the highway.

Obviously if I'm going slower than that I'll just roll down the windows.

I've got a 2.5 auto and it cant keep up with steep mountain highways (British Columbia) with all the wind resistance.

The air fan doesn't do it in the summer when I'm on long trips and have the jeep filled to the brim with stuff lol

My dog and I stay in the jeep while the wife goes in the store for groceries. Yeah we could stay at home but the dog loves to go in the jeep. When it’s really hot the solution we have found is the top up with windows out and a spiderweb sunshade under the top. The air between the two tops is hot but you don’t feel as much heat under the sunshade. I’m sure even with the windows in it’ll help you a bunch. Air is a good insulator.

Oh man, that's hilarious!

I keep my house AC at 82 degrees. This is what summer is like here.

Find one of the four-way heater core bypass valves and install it. The air coming through the vents tends to pick up heat leaking from the heater core even at the fully cold intake position.

Example:

That will keep your heater core cold when the bypass valve is on and could lower air temperature by around 3-5° or so.

Insulating the firewall and transmission tunnel can help keep the temperature down as well.

That’s a good idea, and reminds me of discussions years ago about folks insulating the transmission tunnel to keep heat from melting their drinks in the console. I’d expect doing the floorboards as well would help significantly.

You can do 70+ with a 2.5l auto? Count your blessings!

Fancy. This is what I am using: 4 Way Valve. The other thing to check is that your lower shift boot is in good condition. If it's cracked or worse, it's a direct source of engine/transmission/transfer case heat.

They are different diameters, yes. One is about 5/8" and the other is 3/4" or something like that. Fortunately, rubber is somewhat malleable.

+1 on the jeepair.com kit . I think the price is reasonable and I did the install on my 2.5 in a weekend had it charged at a shop the following Monday. Ya it will suck a little more power . I’m assuming 70+ is km/h not MPH. My 2.5 only hits 70+ MPH going downhill 😂😂
