Hi, how’s it going! I have just purchased a 98 2.5l and at some point the exhaust has been replaced or repaired. The factory upstream O2 sensor is functional, but they removed the downstream and it’s causing a check engine light. Is it possible to have it removed from the ECM to turn off the CEL, or would it be easier to attempt to put one back in place. Thanks in advance - (first time forum user)

Yes you can use HP Tuners to delete it from the PCM. You do need to complete the emissions training course to unlock the feature.

It's super easy to drill a hole, weld in a bung and plug in the sensor. They even make extra long bungs to get the sensor out of the exhaust enough so it won't trip...but again...fixing it correctly is very simple and easy.

Always a good practice to chase the threads but being that it’s been out for lord knows how long, I’d highly suggest it.
