Does anyone know what 4.56 ring gear fits a TJ wrangler with an Eaton limited slip differential? non rubicon dana 44 rear axle. I ordered one that is about 3/8 of an inch too thick and need the correct one to get back on the trails.
Your choice of ring gear is either standard cut or thick cut, depending on what side of the carrier break your carrier is.
Your existing ring gear being too thick suggests that you need a standard cut ring gear.
Awesome. Groovy. Would you happen to know if I will need to pull the already installed pinion out or if the pinion is the same regardless of whether or not your ring gear is thick or standard?
I have only bought rings and pinions together as a set
I will pull the pinion and have the bearing pressed onto the new one, then. thanks, y'all!
A proper gear setup must be completed.
I have a guy doing the work. we just got everything installed and discovered the ring gear is too thick, so i ordered what i hope is the correct ring gear. all we should need to do at this point is have the bearing pressed onto the pinion, bolt the ring gear to the limited slip diff and put it all back in the housing, slide the axle shafts back in, put the drums back on, mount the tires, fill the front and rear diffs with fluid and go.
i hope. he owned his own shop for years and built his jeep from the ground up, so i trust he knows his shit. at this point, we're just stuck without the correct ring gear.
Uh, pinion?

what's weird about it?

@OverlandOperator Ring and pinions come as a matched set, so you can’t just “order” a standard ring gear and expect everything will work.
Perhaps your guy never dealt with rings and pinions.
what did he miss? seriously. if you're just going to talk shit, do it in someone else's thread. i came here for advise.
