I've been working with MORryde on a cargo slide; it's for the JKU and JLU Wranglers and the Bronco. It also installs in the Ineos Grenadier (hey, now that I've got a Grenadier, I'm not going to miss an opportunity to adapt something to it). In the JKU:

The TJ/LJ isn't on MORryde's radar for this slide, but I figured if it can be made to fit there too so much the better, so I tried it in my LJ today. Turns out if fits great, it's basically full width in the TJ/LJ.

In this next photo of the slide extended, I'm supporting it with my camera tripod since I haven't attached the slide to the floor.

For the JKU/JLU/Bronco MORryde's doing a no-drill kit and I haven't shown them these photos yet but they don't have plans to do a no-drill kit for the TJ/LJ; even without no-drill kit it wouldn't be hard to do some nutserts in the floor to secure it using the holes that are already in the slide's mounting brackets.

They say their price target for the slide is around $330 and plus the no-drill kit for whatever vehicle they're shooting for less than $400 total price, but if one were to install the slide in a TJ/LJ with nutserts you'd avoid the cost of the no-drill installation kit.

I wonder if there's enough demand for this in the TJ/LJ market to make an installation kit worthwhile? The TJ/LJ don't have really usable tie down points in the bed so a no-drill kit might be a challenge to design but I think it could be done. What do you guys think? Worth pursuing?

As long as I'm posting today, I'll add this... I've got a full collection of JP Magazine (every issue) that it taking up space, I haven't read them in a long time so if anyone's interested I'll consider offers.

I also have a full collection of JRations Magazine and a nearly complete collection of Jeep World UK magazines that I don't probably need anymore. if anyone is interested.

Curious also if this fits with the rear seat installed ? Also that magazine collection is cool talk about a blast from the past!

Does it fit with the Rear seats in on the LJ?
I can't put the rear seat in to check right now - it's in the basement and my foot is in a cast so I'm not capable of bringing it to the Jeep but I think it might be slightly too long to fit with the seat. That would have to be verified by actually putting the seat in place, hopefully I'll be capable of moving the seat before too long.

My kindergartener loves to read anything Jeep/Car related. I’d gladly cover shipping for a stack of some new bedtime stories.

What is the dimensions and weight rating? I have the rear seat out of my TJ and would LOVE for this. Even if they don't sell a kit for the TJ, I will buy one for mine if it fits.

Would be nice if it tied into the seat brackets bolt holes. I have a arb fridge and their slide on the pass side held with nutserts. A slide that's half the width would suit my needs better. But any new products for the tj/lj line is good.

ditto

This could also be a good platform for a drawer (in my LJ).
I want to replace my RC slide with this so it covers the whole floor. I have a Motobilt cargo tray to install to keep my cooler from bouncing, but this would allow me to use the Yeti tie down and be able to get stuff out of it.

I'm interested. How thick are the slides? What's the box made of? How heavy is it?

Can I buy another box separately? I ask because I have a hooke road cargo tray and I'd love to mount another drawer just under that. It's on my list of reasons I need a tig welder for...

You’re the expert on this, but isn’t width the limiting factor? I would think if it fits between the seat brackets on the LJ, then it’s good whether the rear seat is in or out.

The inside dimensions of the tray are approximately 29" wide x 25" front to back. The outside width is roughly 31.5" and the outside front to back dimension is roughly 26.5"

The slides are 200-lb.

Would be nice if it tied into the seat brackets bolt holes.

In the front, the mounting rails are pretty close to aligning with the seat brackets, so it wouldn't be hard to secure the slide there:

And in the rear, the mounting rails aren't too far from the rear tie downs, so it wouldn't be difficult to secure the slide to those bolt holes. I know many TJ's and some LJ's don't have those rear brackets, but nutserts would be easy to do there in either case.

I wouldn't be hard to turn the tray into a drawer, just add plywood sides and perhaps also a hinged lid.

I've got two of the slides here, the one in the LJ is the first preproduction version and it doesn't have load tie-down points. The second one I've got here is a "production candidate" version and it's got plenty of tie-down slots:

My Dometic 35 fridge fits very nicely in the tray, leaving plenty of room for other gear.

The tray and mounting rails appear to be made from 14 gauge steel. Plenty sturdy. I haven't weighed it but I was able to lift it into the Jeep mostly balancing on one foot to avoid putting pressure on the other foot that's in a cast :).

Don't know if they would sell a tray separately but I don't quite understand your application - what would the extra tray be for if you mount a slide tray under the Hooke Road cargo tray? Where would the second one go?

You’re the expert on this, but isn’t width the limiting factor? I would think if it fits between the seat brackets on the LJ, then it’s good whether the rear seat is in or out.

The width is perfect to fit between the inner fenders of the TJ/LJ. The length is important if you want to install it in an LJ and keep the seat in place - if the distance from the back of the seat to the tailgate is less then the length front-to-back of the tray assembly, then the tray and the seat can't both be in place at the same time. Unfortunately as I wrote earlier, my seat is in my basement and there's no way with my foot in a cast I can haul that heavy thing up to the garage to test whether the tray fits with the seat or not. So sorry about that.

Seems like there are a lot of ways this tray can be used in a TJ or an LJ and at the target price of around $329 it should be hard to beat.

I was thinking a 32" wide, 28" deep 3" tall aluminum pan/drawer under my Hooke Road rack. I could put foam in the drawer and make cut outs for tools, recovery rings, shackles. Or leave space open for straps and larger items.

I sent an email or two to companies that make drip/drain pans for HVAC equipment and decided I'd just wait until I pull the trigger on a TIG rig (and brake.) and if I had that I'd probably ditch the Hooke Road tray and fab my own.

Then I'd put your slide on the floor. I've got my floor jack, cooler might fit...I'd need to measure that and might need to rethink. Jackery would fit.

Thanks for the pics Jeff. My arb 35 should be close to the same size as your fridge. And a jackery battery and ect should fit nicely..

This morning I texted MORryde a link to this thread so they could see the comments and gauge whatever interest there might be in the TJ/LJ market. They just texted me back:

We could do preorders for anyone that wants one and offer free shipping and $299.99. That would be just for the tray and no hardware or brackets. You can give them this email if they want to preorder: AftermarketSales@MORryde.com

If we get enough interest, it would take likely 3-4 weeks before trays are ready to ship.

MORryde said "just for the tray and no hardware or brackets", which is just what you want for the TJ/LJ anyway - the JKU, JLU, Bronco and Grenadier require additional brackets but as I posted the slide should be able to be installed in the TJ/LJ without too much effort.

A preorder price of $299.99 with free shipping for a large and heavy thing like this is a killer deal. I hope some of you can take advantage of it.

From my work on the MORryde Trail Kitchen I'm pretty sure the ARB 35 and the Dometic 35 have the same footprint so you should be good.

Two questions.

Have we figured out if it fits with the rear seat in the LJ?

In the JLU will it be able to fit with the rear seat upright and usable?

Thanks
