Mispellings on the Forum

Yep that's what I'm thinking. I keep saying I want to move somewhere boring as hell so there aren't people attracted to it to make it crappy. I don't need fancy attractions or night life I just want my peace

@JMT - how about we discuss the elimination of the double space between sentences? I was taught to use them, but the current style manuals say it's no longer necessary, and I'm told that's being taught in schools these days. The reason given is that modern fonts are designed to be more readable. However, the modern fonts don't seem that way to me. Until they do, and I can see extra space that helps me read a paragraph, I will buck the new rule!

Sure. I see your double spaces! We were taught double spaces, but yes, the rule changed to single space. I was under the impression it was due to the shift from typewriters type-setting to computer type-settings. Typewriters give equal space to each letter and computers do not. This eliminated the need for the extra space in the minds of the rule-makers.

That used to be correct (and was how I was taught in school), no comma before the "and". However, apparently Microsoft's dictionary thinks otherwise and always suggest the extra comma for clarity in the list.

I had two different English teachers with PHD's in high school and that's how they taught me. I learned enough to test out of English at the college level. I forgot everything else I learned, except that.

Exactly what we did. Nothing to do, very few places to eat or shop (really only Walmart), and enough wind that most people who do move here would likely regret having done so.

You just described Oklahoma. We’re having wind gusts up to 60 mph today. I had to tie all of the livestock to the side of the barn this morning so they wouldn’t blow away. The last part is a joke, but it’s probably not a bad idea.

Yep, that's why most of the normies and libtards seem to avoid the "fly over states" and midwest.
