Mispellings on the Forum

Was that incorrect apostrophe use deliberate? It is difficult to know due to the nature of this thread, and also because these days it is common for people to think adding 's to any word makes it a plural.

Wonderful. Glad you caught that. Makes my day!

Looks like we need to add number 17 to the original list.
17. Your and You’re (Sure hope you’re not going to ban me because it is basically your forum)

I’m adding it. What a terrible oversight.

Sometimes mis-spellings can be to your advantage when buying stuff. When I was looking for a sheet metal brake I found them under brake and break both. I bought a Ford breakout box on ebay for $25, a fraction of what it should have cost because the seller spelled "enhanced" wrong and nobody was finding it to bid on.

That's a really good point! I always try common misspellings when searching market place. The aforementioned axel is a good one. Curry, Worn winch, and worn wench (not what I'm looking for at all! 😳) can all provide some results otherwise unseen.

Although, if you were trying to buy a Cummins truck, you'd probably find higher prices for a Cummings diesel because they "know what they've got." Even though they, quite literally, do not!

I'm surprised you didn't include alot. Maybe it doesn't count as a misspelling because it's not even a word, even though it's used a lot.

Definitely a misspelling. And yes, that’s a huge one. Alot is not even a word!

Why is it the Canadians have the worst grammar and punctuation of anyone else on the forum?

I don’t know what it is about Canadians, but I’ve noticed this seems to be ubiquitous across every forum that I’m on.

Maybe they're too used to French

Because they don't have a department of education like we do. (Sarcasm)
